Hi all,

I have been a long time lurker.
I bought my first palm (a japanese Visor Edge) in february 2002.
I have been waiting to upgrade for almost a year !
As I am studying japanese I definitely wanted to get a new japanese clie.
After the bad news from Sony I was confused.

Should I upgrade when Cobalt is out or now since the TH55 is just everything I was waiting for ? Well after reading a post about "what is not so cool about palm OS 6.0 (security feature more like a DRM stuff)" and the anouncement of no more support for clie developers, I just thought that's it was better to upgrade now because :
It might take many tries for Sony (japanese clie) to make a pda with cobalt that has the features that I want and that if they produce something way of the standards it will not get a lot of support from abroad developers.

So I bought a TH55 !
It's charging and I need to wait about 5 hours...

I'm gonna read the forum to understand:
* how to correctly transfer my old visor edge stuff to the new clie
* which memory stick type I should get (I don't own any other sony device and don't plan to buy either).
* what GPS solutions are available

Thanks for all the great posts there which help me in my decision.

Hi lekeno. Congratulations on your TH. I have some questions to ask you since I recently purchased a TH as well. I have a suspicion that the TH55 the store sold me was a return. The grafitti 2 reference card was not included and the following is a list of what I got in the box:

a fold out "Quick Start Guide"
"Safety & Regulations Guide"
A sheet listing optional accessories (white sheet)
END-USER LICENSE AGREEMENT FOR SONY SOFTWARE (pink sheet)
Limited Warranty Statement (white sheet)
Notes on CLIE Organizer for PC and CLIE Organizer pink sheet)
Notes on communication speed of wireless LAN function (green sheet)
How to get Documents To Go Pro. (white sheet)

I'm in the USA, where are you? Mine did not come with a hard copy / booklet of the main TH55 manual. Can you list other literature / manuals / leaflets your TH55 came with? I may be wrong that they sold me an open box unit. It may be that Sony does not include some items in their newer production TH55s. I would be very grateful if you could go through the papers that came with your TH to see if there is something there that I didn't get. Thanks.

Here is the thread where I posted more info. of what I got:

Hi,

I bought mine in Japan.
Here is what was in the box:
* safe usage manual (stuff like don't drop water on it and so on)
* explanation of the advtanges of registration
* warranty card
* a sheet of paper explaining that when applying a protective sheet it is better not to press to strong on the screen
* a note concerning www.imagestation.jp
* a note concerning clie organizer for PC and clie organizer
* an upgrade offer for ATOK (japanese input system software)
* a note about rechargeable battery cell
* a note about wireless (how to cancel the default power save mode)
* a list of compatible accessories
* a quick start card
* a "what to do if there is a problem" manual
* a note about a tool called "clie data mover tool"
* an EULA-type paper
* a paper on which staff might wrote what they did repair, if I send the unit to their service
* printed manual book of th55
* printed explantion book for wireless connectivity

I guess that's it for the paper stuff.
Hardware:
* CD
* strap
* ac/dc
* usb cable
* clie

that's it, I think

Thanks for the info. lekeno. I guess I'll have to exchange mine. I do not have the printed manual or the grafitti 2 reference card (which I really need). I also do not have the sheet on the wireless info.
