Well...i just purchased a refurbished T|E from the palmone.com store. (Got a free RAYMAN game card too!) After reading all of this feedback about the T|E, i hope that palmone was able to fix all those problems, and get the one i ordered back into excellent working shape. So, is it true i won't be able to use my hacks with the T|E? That would suck if i can't. Also, i know that the Palm T3 had a problem in the past with reading/using 512MB SanDisk SD cards...how is the T|E on this? I am coming from using a Sony Clie T615 (first pda) so i am excited about the OS5, and the faster processor! I was going to get a T3, but didn't have enough money. Obviously i only had enough money to get a refurbished T|E, so i am hoping this will do me fine. I am trying to step away from OVER-USING my pda, and keeping it down to mostly work, and PIM apps. Another reason why i went for a T|E. It seems new enough. but also basic enough.
ALSO...does any past/recent T|E owners have any accessories or extra things they want to give up, or sell for cheap?
DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THE T|E CAN USE A WIFI SD CARD??? IF SO, WHERE CAN I GET ONE? I HAVE SEEN WIFI SD CARDS FOR POCKET PC...HOW ABOUT THE T|E??? (VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION!!!)

There is at present only a wifi card that works with a Zire71; AFAIK it does not work with other PalmOne models.

The Tungsten E has the potential to use an SD wifi card if drivers are written to support the TE (it has an SDIO slot)... again, IF drivers are released to support it...

Most hacks do not work with OS5 by themselves. Some have been modified to do so, others work with TealMaster.
The only hacks I use are mcphling and findhack, both have been updated to OS5

mdl simson.
I am trying to decide between a T615C and a sj22, both used but in great shape. Any comments on the way you would go, and why, will be highly appreciated.

Alright, when i got the T|E from palmone, (July 16th) it came refurbished...and the thing didn't work! I charged it for the 3 hours, and it still didn't turn on. SO...i mailed it back to PalmOne, they put the money back on my card...and then i went to OfficeDepot and got a BRAND NEW T|E with a good hard case for $211 with tax. This was on Monday, and today is Friday. I have had plenty of time to play with it, and i love it! It's basic, OS5, fast (compared to my old Clie T-615), works GREAT with my 512MB SanDisk SD Card, the MP3 feature sounds great (even better with headphones), and i love the chrome metal casing! The only thing that sucks about the T|E (and it's nothing too huge to make me hate it), is that it doesn't use a cradle. Just a usb for HotSync, and a power chord for charging. Also, when i turn it on, there is a constant high pitched noise from the screen or something. It's not too bad...i can't hear it when i play games, or have music in the back ground. Does anybody know what this is from? Anyway, I LOVE MY T|E! My wife played with it too, and she got so stoked, that she is going to go out and get herself a Zire72.

billberry12:
I would go with the t615... aluminum body, built in consumer IR (remote control), polyphonic sound, and very slim form factor. I liked my t better than the SJ22... although the SJ22 has better color reproduction with its screen. But the SJ22 alarms are so quiet I could barely hear them....

its so far performed very well, and is very nice looking.

palmOne have not indicated that they're planning to make drivers for the TE for their wi-fi card. When it came out they said Zire 72 and T3 only with T5 to come. The T5 drivers are now out, but they haven't announced any others are coming. If you can find a good price on the Enfora Wireless Portfolio, that's probably your best bet.

I got mine last Nov. It's my first OS 5 device and my first ever PalmOne device. Everything was really good initially. I like the speed of the OS, the Hi-Res screen, 32 MB RAM, it's louder built-in speaker and I like the new built-in PIM functions.
I've load a lot of apps and games onto it until I only have ~5MB RAM left now. Then recently, tapping on the screen seems a bit of a pain cuz (1) response is slower, sometimes it even hangs, (2) writing with Gratiffi 2 becomes a pain in the a**, (3) the position is off, ie. tapping on centre of a menu won't work, I need to tap lower.
I reset the digitizers many times and the problem persists. Only yesterday I was able to correct it and found that I need to reset the lower digitizer on the spot on the innermost red ring instead of the centre. Now I am looking for software solution for this. Does anyone have any idea?
Thanks in advance.
