Whenever I open Mapopolis I get this message..."Mapopolis may not be compatible with hacks on this device. Please delete all hacks and reset your device." I have noticed the following issues with Mapopolis...
When trying to "Copy" a map to the MS, Mapopolis begins to write to the MS but neve finishes. I have waited for long periods of without seeing the completion of the task.
I loaded some maps to the /Palm/Programs/Mapopolis/ using MS Import and attempted to access the maps Via the "Go To Card" button. Mppls begins to read the card but never finishes. I eventually cancel the command. After cancelling, the maps on the card are accessible.
I am missing an option to desselect scanning the entire card. I have seen screen shots of the option but they are not available on my device.
I do not know what hacks the app is referring to. If anyone knows of any particular hacks that have caused probs on their devices that generated this message please let me know. I do have PiDirectII on my device. I tried to configure the settings in PiDirectII to both pause and rescan. Each of these settings just caused a fatal alert. Is Mapopolis not compatible with PiDirectII. The same bugs mentioned above occur both with PiD enabled and dissabled. I have turned off all hacks and tried to run Mapopolis from the card but the results are the same as mentioned above.

#1) I install my maps to MS, so I can't help here
#2) This has always puzzled me. When I "go to card", I let it search for a few seconds and then cancel...my maps are listed
#3) I can't find an option to prevent searching entire card, either.

Do you have v5.15 of the viewer. I don't think it has an option not to search the entire card, I think, by specifying the directory for your maps, it only looks there. Also try unchecking "Load Contiguous Maps", you may have too many contiguous maps to fit in memory.

This is the reply from Mapopolis support.
Hi,
Mapopolis is a very powerful program that requires ALL PROGRAM MEMORY on the device. Many hacks and launchers don't free up such memory when they
are in use -- or even after they are no longer being used. So, they must be disabled and a soft reset done before using Mapopolis. This is not a bug --Mapopolis RELEASES all the memory it used when done. Other programs need to
do the same. Another problem is that some of them run in background mode continuously using memory.
Here is some other info I think you might find useful (also, get the latest
version of the Map Viewer from our website under Download App, then your
platform if you don't already have it):
Putting Maps onto Memory Card
Help, Mapopolis can't find the maps on my memory card.
Many users cannot synch the maps directly to the memory card. They need to
follow this procedure: Synch map to RAM, copy map to memory card, delete
version from RAM Now Mapopolis should be able to find the maps on the card.
Memory Card Search (Palm OS)
How do I limit the search of my memory card with Palm OS versions 5.1 and higher?
Tap Menu, Maps, Go To Card You will see Directory:____________________ Fill in the path using the keypad. Although only the first 15 characters will display, you may enter more and verify the accuracy by using the keypad.

I tried running Mapopolis after deleting both LauncherX and ZLauncher. Mapopolis still would not read the maps from the card. If I specify a directory Mapopolis will identify my map, but states that their is an error and does not display it. My first attempt to run AcidImage after installing Mapopolis caused a fatal alert and after reseting the device I was taken into the ELOD (Endless Loop of Death). I tried a warm reset, but even that did not deliver me from the grief. I was forced to do a hard reset, but fortunately I do scheduled backups with CardBackup every night. After the restore I went through and deleted all apps that seemed relative to the issues mentioned by Mapopolis' tech support. I deleted LauncherX, ZLauncher, PiDirectII, and McFile. After deleting these apps I again tried to read a map from the card but got the same results. At first Mapopolis just goes into an endless scan for maps. Then I cancel the scan (Now with no maps appearing at all) and designate a directory. After designating the directory I press the "List" button and get this error: "Error 11799 (10754) Cannot open /Palm/Maps//LARIMERCOPNM04.pdb"

Kennyd, are the maps you are using in /Launcher? Try housing your maps there, as opposed to /Launcher/Mapopolis, and use the "go to card, then cancel" technique I mention above.
I use ZL, AcidImage, and many other apps in ROM (my T615 shows ROM at 28% currently, but I have had no Mapopolis problems even when I am down to 13%).
I don't use PiDirectII or McFile, but I do have 8 active hacks and no probs.
What Clie are you using?

I am storing the maps in /Palm/Maps/. I have also tried storing them /Palm/Programs/Mapopolis/. The cancel technique worked until the first hard reset was forced after attempting to open AcidImage.

Thanks for affirming that there is or can be compatibility with these apps. I am currently going to do another hard reset (Only because I know that I have a faithfull restore) and begin loading all apps one by one starting with Mapopolis. I am also going copy by directories from my MS to my desktop and reformat the card.

I have an SJ30.

Kennyd, try deleting the / at the end of you path. I get error messages if I change my path to include that /. My path is "/palm/maps". Also it take a second or two for the maps on MS to appear after selecting "Go To Card". I don't have any problems reading maps from MS on my NR and I am using several hacks, DAs and NR Buttons, without any conflicts.
PS: I'm also using MSMount, ZLauncher, Acid Image, all with no conflicts.

Sorry for the delay on response. I just moved this last weekend, and...you know. I have been able to get my system running again with Mapopolis. I had to dump AcidImage for the time being (I was just in trial time with it anyway). AcidImage continued to cause an error that was not recoverable. I also noticed a conflict with the restored keyboard driver. After deleting the keyboard driver I no longer got the hack message. What a BUMMER. Now I have all of my hacks and DA's working without a problem.
Sebring, thanks for the word on the path description. Mapo doesnt like that second /.
Xyeta, I'm glad you appreciated the signature. It's amazing how powerful longsuffering and love are when practiced in the lives of others.
I really do like Mapo, but am dissapointed in the conflicts with other apps that came up after installing it.
I wonder if it's LX. I haven't tried simply removing LX out of the picture. That would be a hard option to lose. LX is my favorite launcher. I've been toying around with Z but still use LX as my primary.
Is anyone else using LX, AcidImage, ZLauncher, Keyboard driver, and lots of hacks without conflict.
