Hey everyone. I just got a Belkin USB adapter. It works great. I know this because I am able to surf the web through my UX50 from my laptop via the adapter. I am unable to hotsyc it though. I followed the instructions on PDA247 and those did not work. I have trippled check to see if I had the ports right in the hotsyc setup and in the bt setup. It still does not work though. It is also on auto connect in the bt setup and nothing! Anyone got any ideas? I can surf the web but cant hotsync. If it helps... I am running version 4.1 of Palm Desktop for Clie. Thanks in advance!

Do you have any other BT devices paired with your PC?
I have to switch between my phone and Clie in the (built-in BT) on my PC for hotsync to work.
Perhaps you need to create a special PC hotsync connection that uses BT esp. for hotsyncing...

I have paired my UX to my PC. If anyone knows of the instructions on PDA247 I used those... I would show them but I forgot the link >_<. Also, I can connect to my comt in HotSync but it just stays on "Connecting with desktop using Laptop (the name for bt hotsync I made)". Anyone got a clue? Thanks in advance!

Look in hotsync mgr and make sure the right connection (serial?) is checked.

Just looked and it is checked. I dont understand... the internet works... so I know its not the BT adapter... but something with Palm Desktop. Thanks in advance for anymore ideas!

You don't happen to have two PDAs (two 'user names') paired with your PC, do you?

This is not specifically for the UX, but it very well might be worth a look for you. I hope it helps. :o

Hi. It didnt work. I even tried Net Sync, which allows you to hotsync over a network, and that didnt work too. I cant believe that the internet will work but hotsyncing wont. Anyone got any more ideas  ?

You haven't actually reported that you can hotsync via USB... does that work? Maybe uninstalling and reinstalling PalmDesktop (do you use that or Outlook?) might help, sometimes it does....
Also 'serial' is what I use in hotsync manager, but my BT is built-in. Your BT is a USB thingie, right? Try checking that in mgr just for kicks. I'm not sure if the connection set-up for a dongle is the same as built-in BT in your UX.
Sorry I'm not being more help! :( Do search the forums if you haven't, maybe someone else here has gotten 'fixed' ???

I sync my UX50 & UX40 both to my laptop at work using a Belkin BT USB adaptor. It was not difficult to set them up at all, took about 10 minutes total. Since you can surf the net with no problems, your BT adaptor is obviously installed properly. Then it comes to the hotsync configuration settings. I have mine set for serial connection, not USB. I am also syncing to Outlook 2000 at work. At home I connect to the Palm Desktop via USB. What sort of error messages do you get when you try to hotsync?

Hey. I can sync 100% ok with my USB. Tried reinstalling PalmDesktop and still not working. I got a USB BT adapter. Manager says everything is ok and I know it is as I can surf the web from my UX from my compt via the BT USB. I will have to check that link... did a search and found no one here with my problem. Thanks for your help though!

If you email me privately with your email address, when I go into work on Monday, I will email you the settings on my computer that I have set up to hotsync with the Belkin USB BT and UX50.

Try going into the hotsync manager (right click in the system tray), select setup, local and change serial port to COM8

Good luck!
