View Full Version : Are there any MIDI players?

I can't believe that this sort of thing isn't more readily available. I'm just looking for a program that will play .mid files from a memory stick. I've tried using the combination of McFile and McMIDI, but McMIDI seems to support only Type 0 MIDI files, which apparently none of mine are. Can anybody suggest another decent player?

I don't remember seeing any, sorry.

Just convert on your desktop using the supplied SoundUtil. The only thing that's strange about it is, that while previous versions supported ONLY type0 , the v2 supplied with the NX doesn't support type0 anymore. So I had to redownload all my converted MIDI files, since I only stored the type0 files on my HD. I didn't know there were ANY programs at all that would play type1, but not type0

Well, the thing is, I have a Mac, so using the official sound converter is more than a little inconvenient. If I could at least find a Mac program (or generic UNIX source code) that can convert a type 1 or 2 MIDI to type 0, that would be good enough, I suppose. On a side note, how well does McMIDI work for playing type 0 files once they're converted?

How about trying to set up a minimalist version of wine. That's the only thing I can think of right now

If I could just find a small command line utility to convert to type 0 MIDIs, that would work. Something that simple should compile easily enough.

There was a DOS utility, but I'll be damned if I could find it again. Shareware though, not open-source
