View Full Version : Attention Manager: Missing application?

I was just reminded that Palm-branded PDAs have a little application called Attention Manager, within which one can manage multiple alarms. I was just in a meeting and wanted to quickly make sure my Clie (NX70V) didn't alarm. It was the first time I realized that the Attention Manager application might actually be useful.

So why don't our Clies have it? Am I missing something??

Thanks,

I use Volume DA for that. Just set it to be quiet for 30 min or you can choose from 1 min to 24 hr. It will resume to the normal setting afterwards. It's not bad DA. It only takes 10KB with additional 3K for Volume Resume and it's free.

I set this up to launch with EasyLaunch.  Before going to a meeting, I just turn it on, swipe my index finger from Find button to Calc button to launch it, tap the quiet bell icon, tap 30 min, tap OK.  Done!  The Clie will shut up for about 30 min.  After 30 minutes, it will beep at me and a window will popup to let me know that it is back to normal.

DanT,

Thanks for the tip. Do I simply install Volume DA or do I need a particular utility to run it?

You need a DA launcher like EasyLaunch, DALaunchers, SlowLaunch, McPhling, etc., to launch any DAs. There are several places to find them. nXtClieClub (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nXtClieClub/files/-Desk%20Accessories/) is one that I use. I'm not sure which DALaunchers and DAs that are compatible to OS5. You may need to check NX & NZ forums for what work with OS5.

I heard McPhling 5.10 (http://palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=240DC91A-D327-47C0-BE83C4ACF48E2C1E&prodID=11596) works for OS5. That is a good start. It is not bad app to have by itself too. I use it for going back and forth among several apps without the need to go to the launcher screen. It's just like clicking the "Back" button in the Internet Explorer.

Yes, I just read about that one in another forum. There I also learned that if I simply want to mute my Clie to avoid alarms during meetings, for example, I can simply press the speaker icon in the Clie status bar and mute all sounds from there.

But you're right, McPhling seems handy for a number of reasons.
