A while back I posted a thread on the brightness of my nx and received some agreement that there where situations where it can be too bright. I received a suggestion to try colorize and installed it. I am posting this to urge you not to. I lost clie memo access and fiddled for 3 days trying to retrieve it without losing all my memos. even a hard reset would not work. I finally had to, regrettable, delete all my memos and reinstall. do not install colorize on you NX. When there is a program that works try it out then let me know. Francis

there are already multiple threads about the newest version of colorize wreaking havok on the clies.

why don't you just wait until energy dimmer is released for the NX. It is coming out this month.

The developer fixed Colorize later the same day. When I got the fixed version later in the day it had fixed the NX fatal errors, I have had no problems ever since on two NX70's in this household.

BTW, put a piece of duct tape over the screen. it's about perfect in size, it's cheap, it definitley will cut down the brightness, and you'll still have some left over for HomeLand Security...

energy dimmer was just released for the TT. on the palmgear page for it, the developers says a version for the NX will be released sometime in march.

After looking at the program I can see how it might be useful, but the question remains....  You are looking for a program because sometimes the screen is too bright? You CAN adjust the brightness level without additional software.  Am i missing something?

some people find the screen to be too bright even when the light is all the way dim (but they still need some kind of backlighting). I don't notice it too much, but once in a while if I am using it in the dark, I would like it to be less. I typically invert the colors when I read in bed because the light (even on the lowest setting) seems rude to my partner. But, the inversion is hard on my eyes. So, some folks were looking for a way to dim it even further.

Geez, you can make the screen pretty dim with the built-in dimmer. It's hard to believe that there's a market for 'an even dimmer' dimmer.

I am going to have to disagree with you. the lowest setting on the built in brightness thing is way to high, especially for nighttim or in the dark viewing, reading, etc. I always keep my NX on the lowest setting and I find it is perfect during the day but WAY too bright at night.

I find it just perfect with it all the way down at night. Normally I run my brightness level at 25%.

Anyone want to borrow my polarized clip-ons...

I have, since I started this thread, installed the correct version of colorize and find the grey settings a lot easier on my eyes in the morning. also at night or on a plane my NX does not't light up my surroundings and annoy my neighbors. I would like to use the dimmer when it is available. I appreciated the info on the available programs to alter the display until a dimmer is available. Francis

From the web site of the developer:
"The NX70V will be supported in version 2.1 to be released soon."
