My NR-70 locked up this morning, so I pushed the reset button and the screen went blank. Tried to reset again, but no response. The power button is lit, but does not respond to presses and there is no response to a reset - hard, warm or soft. Anybody have any idea what's up? Is the machine dead?

hold button?

If not drain the battery. Never had to do it myself but from what I hear it cures virtually all ails. Worth a shot and cheaper than a replacement.

No, not the hold button - first thing I checked.

look into draining the battery, it will take a while but that's all you got.

it's not hard to remove the back cover and un hook the battery, having the same effect as a drain without the adverse effects on the battery performance....I've done it before, not hard at all

Thanks everyone! Removed the back, disconnected and reconnencted the battery, hard reset, Backup Buddy restore and I'm up and running. NeverDeath is right - no problem taking off the back of the unit - just undo the screws.

Help like this is what boards like this are great for. Thanks again.

Exact same thing happened on mine today. I'm getting ready to open it up & see if I can get it going. (I already contacted Sony and have a box coming, just in case.)
