Hi Euro

I recently sent my NX70 away for repair and it came back with several scratches - some on the body, and a few on the screen, and they were quite deep. Sony are denying doing this so I have taken up the matter with teh retailer who may offer me a replacement - I think my choices are the NX73 (Euro version, with bluetooth) or the TH55. I'm not sure what to go for, assuming I get the option.

THe TH55 has Bluetooth *AND* Wifi, a great battery life, and is smaller...but the HandHeld Engine maxes out at 123Mhz which is not great for future apps, and I'll lose the CF slot.

The NX73 adds Bluetooth (I have a BT Memory stick any way), a lighted keyboard and has a CF slot - altho I'm not sure I like the retractable slot! But it's bigger and has no Wifi in relation to the TH55.

ARGH! Decisions!!

TH55 has more usable ram (32) than the nx73 (11)
wifi CF card is doable but bulky

look at the nx80 (since you already have MS bluetooth).
more ram (16mb + 16with jackflash)
CF memory is cheaper than MS

TH55 layout (buttons, camera, screen lid) sucks rocks. The nx 73 is simply a modern marvel of engineering. Especially w/ built in BT.

Thanks for the replies, guys!

Still undecided -should find out tomorrow what options I have. I'm leaning towards the NX73 because I found out the IR on the TH55 isn't high-range...but then again, I do get Wi-Fi and it in a smaller package...but no CF Slot.DAMMIT! ;)

i am confused..i have a NX73 but did not know it had a built in BT (i assume that means bluetooth technology). if i misunderstood i apologize. but if it does have BT what can the owner do with that?

Your NX73 doesn't have BT or you would know (Euro/BT models have an annoying flashing blue LED...)
BT is used to connect it wireless to phones and/or PC's.

Yep, Ptah has pretty much hit it on the spot - it was only the Euro versions that have built in Bluetooth. An easy way to tell is that Euro versions are silver, as opposed to the US versions which are black.

Bluetooth is a short-range wireless communications protocol - a good way of thinking about it is that it is like Infrared (IR) which doesn[t require line-of-sight. It is available on lots of devices, including mobile phones, MP3 players, handsfree kits, and a range of networking products, and of course PDAs. Have a look at www.bluetooth.org and www.bluetooth.com for more info

I too had the choice of getting either, i went for the 73 with bluetooth, for one simple reason appart from the beautiful design, THE CF SLOT !!! the clie has flash memory which adds something like 9 MB ! with powerone, one gets even more. I surfed the net using my LAN at work and bluetooth setup to my computer and softick program: really cool.! the 73 is an amzingly fast machine. go for it................
