I am having difficulty in trying to create my first VG skin with NXSkinGen. I'm following the directions found at http://cbulock.iwarp.com/nx/vg/ to the letter but, when I import the 640x480x256 image at step #8, it looks like garbage. What am I doing wrong?

Maybe I can help:
I sometimes have the same problem and I discovered it's because of the color palette in use.
I will try to explain myself. Please bear with me, since my English is not that good.

It is true that you need a 640x480 image that has 256 colors, but not ANY colors. The problem you are experience is because there is a color palette for the palm that must be used, or your image won't display right.

Since I do not use any picture editing software other than MS paint I can't help you on how to change the palette on other programs. What I do is save a default VG or SS skin from NXSkinMaker and open it in Paint.

Because Paint does not change the palette used unless you change the image's color depth (which you shouldn't anyway), you now have a canvas on which to work on with the palm palette. So the only thing you need to do is copy/paste the images you want.

It is normal that they don't appear exactly as you intended, but that's precisely because the limited color palette.

Hope I made myself clear.

I have a Palm palette file for The Gimp if anyone uses that and needs it.
