My N760C is used to stay on whenever I put it on the cradle by putting a check on the "Stay on in Cradle" (under the Prefs, General screen). Now it does not do it anymore for some reason. Is there a fix to this problem?
I hardreset the Clie and spent a weekend cleanly reinstall all of the apps in RAM (including re-entering all of the registration codes  ), so I don't have any orphaned files in the Clie's RAM and in PC (SonyHandheld/username/backup). Before HotSync, the Palm Desktop for Clie was uninstalled and reinstalled. The content of "backup" folder was emptied to insure I'll have a clean backup folder after HotSync. Recover about 600KB free memory space and the system seems to be a lot more stable. However, the problem is still there.
I get around the problem by installing two apps, CradleSnd and AlwaysOn. The CradleSnd is set to enable and launch AlwaysOn on cradle. Before I let it sit on the cradle, I need to turn it on first. As soon as the Clie sits on the cradle, it will beep and launch AlwaysOn with Always On preselected (highlighted). Then I need to tap OK twice. When I remove it off the cradle, it will beep and reset the AlwaysOn setting to 2 minutes (although "Auto-off After" is set to 3 minutes, apparently AlwaysOn overrides the "Auto-off After" setting in the Prefs, General screen). This is a little hassle but it does the job (that is it will stay on while the Clie is on the cradle and it will reset the auto-off to 2 minutes after I take the Clie off the cradle.) I would be glad to know an easier fix to this problem.
Thanks
