Ok - so heres a dumb question or 5, I suppose I should RTFM, but I can't find it at the moment. Using clie paint, I was able to create and save a couple of images. Now, what I'd really like to do, is save them as .gif files, and download them to my PC.
I have MS Export on my PC, and Import on my handheld, but shouldn't this be the other way around? Import on the PC, and export on the handheld?
And.... can I save these as .gifs??

I just found out that I can save it as a jpeg and email it to myself.... that works. However, that doesn't seem like
an elegant and long term solution to me.

I had the problem with pictures I made with the included camera (look at the thread http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=253 ).
So I was able to get the pictures as a JPG file to my PC. If you can save the images as a JPG file this works with paint images too. At the PC you can convert the JPG very easy to a GIF.

Best best for me is to beam it to my laptop from within clie viewer

Hi all,
I just grabbed some pics from someone else's memstick (taken in a Sony camera), and they're visible in Clie Viewer. A hotsync brought them to my PC, but they're in .PDB format. Actually, they're named "DSCnnnnn-1_JPG.PDB".
I tried renaming them to *.jpg and opening them in a viewer, but it couldn't open them.
How do I convert these to real jpg's?
Thanks in advance.

1. place your clie in the cradle.
2. start MS Inport on your Clie.
3. an external drive is then mounted on your PC (after a moment)
4. navigate to the new external drive to the dcim\101msdcf directory. Your jpg files are located there. just copy them to your pc.

Ah well - if you have the MS import thing on the hand held then you connect to your desktop PC and have your clie show up as a mapped drive on the PC. Then you can drag them to your PC in the original .jpeg format.
At least it works for me.

Ahh, I don't own a memstick yet. MS Import is saying "No Memory Stick detected!"
Q1: Do I have to get a memstick to do this? The manual says I do.
Q2: Do I have to install a driver on my PC for this to work? Windows is asking where the driver is.
Thanks again.

Got it! I used the "Clie Mail" option within Clie Viewer to mail the photos to myself, and it worked!

You hotsync you Clie to your pc, the pictures you created will be backed up. Open your 'Picturegear' program on your pc, using 'Picturegear' open your backup folder and find the pictures. Double click on the thumbnailyou want to convert. It should launch the picture viewer. You can save the picture from there into several different formats, including gif and jpg.

Tried that, but for the life of me I can't find the place in PictureGear where I open my backup folder. I looked in all the sub-programs, but only one came close ("Register Folder") but that didn't work.

Yes you do need the memory stick in order for this to work. the import will look the memory stick as a driver.. and you need to install the MS import on the pc and after a hotsync the application will be ready for usage.. have fun
PS memory stick are dirt chip now that we have memory stick pro..
