Hey guys!
You may or may not know this but MobilePlanet.com is advertising a $50 manufacturer's mail-in rebate in the Sony Clie LAN Card. you can pick it up for just $99.00 which is a hell of a lot less than I've seen on Ebay or any other auction site!
http://www.mobileplanet.com
Also, ecost.com is offering a $20.00 rebate on 128MB Memory Sticks too!

I hope this helps someone out there.

The rebate on the wireless card is from Sony, so it's good regardless of where you buy the card from. There's a few other threads with details.

Thanks so much, folks, I just returned my WL100 to Best Buy...still got one on order from Amazon for $130, but will cancel it now. Methinks I should wait for the WL110 to hit the shelves, then get one of those.
Thanks for saving me the $50 crew!

Have you seen anything concrete on the WL110? Is there any specs on it?

nothing concrete, but the fact that Intel has a unit with that model number and that two online stores are advertising it as "for the NZ" makes me feel like it's forthcoming.

The differences between the WL100 and the WL110 are unknown at this point.
As far as bluetooth goes, I think you're limited to the BT memory stick. For inter-communication of devices, you'll need either another BT device, or a BT access point (add $ here).

Hi,
I think the WL100 is the WiFi card and the WL110 is the wireless LAN card.

I'm not convinced there is a difference. Sony markets the WL100 card as a "wireless lan" card, but it's compatible with 802.11b (AKA wi-fi).

Isn't that the same thing?

wifi and wireless lan are the same thing, the difference is that the wl110 is compatible with the ppc's and the wl100 isn't. other than that there is no noticable difference to clie owners.
i think they just added more compatibility to it, so in the future they can have more room when building new clies.

I was at CompUSA a couple of days ago and they had a new WL100 (its stock tag showed it was received that week), and the packaging stated "for NX and NZ".

To be accurate, the price hasn't dropped; simply that a rebate is being offered. You don't buy the card for $99. You buy it for whatever price (e.g. $130 on Amazon) and then send in the coupon for the rebate.

I just wanted to write to advise everyone to keep your eyes peeled for "open-box" WL100's at Best Buy and the like. I was just browsing around today and ran across one at Best Buy for $109 complete and undamaged. Plus, the $50 mail-in rebate still applies... so the Wi-Fi card will end up costing me a total of $59!!!

great price if you can get it. I got mine for the normal price of $147.00 and still do not mind paying that much.
