Has anyone managed to retrieve Hotmail via ClieMail? Would be interested to know if this is possible and how this was accomplished. Thanks. DrNr

Via Clie Mail, any POP3 account can be accessed. If you know the POP3 account information for your Hotmail account then YES, it is possible. :D

Sorry. Can't be done. No pop/imap access to Hotmail - hey, its Microsoft ... do you really think they would use an open standard? Even accessing as a web page via NetFront causes problems (browser too old according to Microsoft).

One avenue to explore is accessing Hotmail via mobile.msn.com. However, this might entail using a WAP browser.

Hotmail uses a different protocol. It is HTTP not POP3. There are several 3rd party programs that retrieve Hotmail messages from the server and store them on your e-mail client. Once they are retrieved to your e-mail client they can be synced like any other inbox. Essentially, you need to translate the HTTP inbox into a POP3 inbox from which you can sync your Clie Mail app.

A popular program that seems to get regular updates is called Onemail although there are others. Here's the link from Palmgear:

There was another called Pop2Hot that does the same thing, but I couldn't find the link.

Hope this helps!

I think if you pay for the premium service offered by Microsoft for Hotmail, then you can get POP3 access.

Yahoo works fine via the browser and they even have a WAP enabled version fo yahoo so everything fits on your screen well.

I believe yahoo has popmail services, but you have to pay for the upgraded account.

This doesn't make any sense to me or my brain isn't functioning:). How does this work with browser based email accounts?

You can sync your Hotmail account for offline viewing and archiving using Outlook. It is, after all, a Microsoft product ;)

I use it all the time to clear out space and to archive old messages instead of deleting them.

This is exactly what I had to do in order to access Hotmail via my T615.  Same thing with Yahoo! Mail through their mobile site:)  This is a great option for those of you who use the wireless features of the Clie, whether it be through the Wi-Fi card or through cables like on the older Clies.  However, I remember the question of whether or not you can hotsync your Hotmail to your handheld coming up a lot before the crash, and I'm not sure that it was definitively solved.

What browser did you use on your T615? I have the WiFi card and am not interested in Hotsyncing to get hotmail. The only solution I've come up with so far is http://www.gopherking.com, but you only get 1 month trial access before you have to pay.

FWIW - The Palm WebProV browser DOES work with Hotmail.

Just thought you all might like to know.

Blazer was the browser that allowed me to check Hotmail via mobile.msn.com.  The only problems I had with it was in logging out... I never was quite sure if it was a successful log-out:confused:    As for web browsing in general, I got to where I liked Xiino better, especially because it allowed me to download .zip's, .jpg's, .prc's, etc. from e-mail and web pages.  Unfortunately, it's not compatible with the NX yet.  That's one of the major things I have come to miss after switching to the NX -- Xiino!

I use attbi for my personal email (web based)

Would 'onemail' work for me? I would like my emails synched to my clie if possible.

anyone know how to do this? Is onemail the answer?

Do I need any other software installed to read them also?

Thanks,
Ryan

With ATT's e-mail, you can use a regular POP-3 e-mail app (such as Outlook Express) and sync it to the Clie.

The POP3 and SMTP server addresses are both mail.attbi.com

FWIW - A friend of mine used sync software from Starfish to sync Yahoo mail & calendar with his Palm (and Lotus Notes, I think).

I think the Intellisync camp (PumaTech) bought Starfish last week, however, so who knows if they still offer their product.

I just did some looking around, and found out 2 things about Yahoo email. There are 2 ways to get the POP3 access....free.

1. If you open up a new Yahoo account with a domain other than the USA (I have only tried Australia, and United Kingdom) the option to use free email forwarding or POP3 is available. Plus you have a 6.0MB mailbox. Weird...  I have searched off and on for a good free POP3/forwarding email account since Yahoo decided to play with our emotions awhile back. Maybe this is just a backdoor approach.

2. Try this program. http://yahoopops.sourceforge.net/  I haven't tried it yet cause I'm at work :D, but I will try it out when I get home.
