ive been searching through the archives, but couldn't seem to find a detailed method on how to install DocsToGo, and how to proceed so i could sync my nx to BOTH my office and home computer...
i tried following the steps (just five of them) on the DocsToGo manual - but it was so terse that I didnt find it helpful...
could anyone give me pointers on how to do this?
thanks in advanced...
I use QuickOffice (QuickSheet &QuickWord) instead of DocToGo and have the app and its database ( all the rest of RAM files)syncing to my office PC and Home PC without problems. I see no reason DocToGo to be any different than the others. I posted how I did it earlier in this link http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5505

I have the same problem as cliewannabe...Docs2Go gets confused by versions, and renames them origdocname_1
It's just an inconvenience and annoyance, but I want them to be in SYNC...

DanT,
I posted a reply to the above referenced thread... I am interested in your reply.
Keeping Docs in sync with home and office is a problem I have yet to overcome.

i really wish someone would provide us some tips and/or instructions on how to do so...
I bought DocToGo a while back and got frustrated with not being able to make DataVizMail to work (couldn't get the Word, Excel, or PowerPoint attachment files in the mail to show up in Clie) trashed the app and went for QuickOffice, which is easier and more stable to work with. No concern with file naming confusion. What you put in PC is what you get in Clie or vice versa. If you open QuickSheet file in PC, the file automatically open up in Excel. When you are done with it you can just go to the Excel tool bar and click on QuickSheet and save, Excel will save the file back to QuickSheet. You can also make a copy in Excel file if you want it too. May be you should give QuickOffice a try.

Hmmm. DataVizMail is a great 'bonus' IMHO. I really like it to sync my work email (and attachments).
I just can't figure out how to get the renaming issue resolved, without having to remember to change the conduit.
It would be nice if the file carried a 'last edited' tag to identify the most recent version, and only updated when necessary.

I have the same problem. I have found it best to just live with the file as "originalname_1" and let it be. Even though the sync may go through the recreating process, the files are not bold as a new file would be and seem to stay as they were. It is a very buggy and poor part of an otherwise good set of tools. I have not tried QuickOffice because DTG works and I'm not interested in spending another $50 to replace it.
I have this problem as well. Living with it does work, because you never know which is the most up to date file. Plus, If I keep changing the same file and work, home and on my Clie, I get _2, _3, _4, etc. versions of the same file.

wnm,
FWIW, I used to get that with DTG Basic. When I upgraded to Premium, of course instructions had me uninstall the old version and then install the new, and since then I have never gotten more than a "_1." Not sure if it's just luck or related to versions. What version are you using? I really wish DataViz would just clean up their act and "overwrite" based on date/time stamp of the file and be done with it! ;)

just a point to add though - though DTG is basically included in almost every palm out there, one would assume that there support desk would be there when you need them... but no - you have to go through a tedious registration process, search through all the technical FAQs, and if you ever need a technical support person to help you have to make an international call (from japan)...

maybe with QO's innovation, D2G will begin to improve.

I've been using DTG for a while now and must say that, on this issue, I found the earlier versions of DTG to be superior. Used to be you could sync to two computers and always have the latest version of your document on all three machines (2PC and the PDA). As I understand the Dataviz material, some users complained about losing the older version and so they deliberately rewrote the program so you would get both old and new versions of the doc on the second computer.
It doesn't work well for my needs. If anyone has a workaround, I'd love to hear it.
Otherwise, I assume that the issue will be mooted by the next iteration of DTG --which will just use files in their native formats.
