I would like to change the built in Calendar App of my Clie NR70V with something more powerful, with more features.
What software should I use instead ?

Either DateBk5 or Agendus. Both are excellent apps and each one has its own strong points. I suggest you try both out to see which one suits your need better.

A5 (http://rg.mirrorz.com/) is a free datebook enhancement that gives you two week views of your schcedule. With A5 you can catagorize your entries, add icons to events (you can use DateBk5 or Agendus icon databases), includes scheduled ToDo's in your week view, and custom colorization. All of these features and alot more are available in both DateBk5 and Agendus. I use A5 simply because it has all of the features that I need in datebook enhancement.

I can't access this site : A5 (http://rg.mirrorz.com/).
Is there a problem with it ?

Yes Yes! A5 is excellent. I have just discovered the list view. This and the icons make for a really nice display of the week. I also like the hack that brings up A5 when you select the (wimpy, lame, useless) week view on the Palm Datebook.

I agree with Sideway. I am using Datebk5 and my son is trying out Agendus. It all depends on which one suits you better.

Is A5 highres+?

A5 is "Hires-" (320X320)

I emailed the author and he said it was planned, but not in the immediate future.

Take a look at MyWeek (http://www.silcom.com/~njhua/cal/myweek_sony.html) . It's similar to A5 and supports HiRes+. I prefer the interface to A5. YMMV It is shareware, however.

I just tried the link to A5's home page that was mentioned above. I am successfully directed to the A5 home page.

Take a look at KsDatebook. I love it. But don't know if it runs on an English platform. It's much better than MyWeek. I bought it some time ago, but stoped using it.
You can get it here:

Need help in installing A5

How do you get icons for ToDo or Meeting to show up on the screen? I installed all of the prc files from the zip file (A5_basic.prc, A501e4.prc, A5Conv.prc, A5icons.prc, A5WeekHack.prc), went to X-master and activated A5WeekHack, tap on A5Conv to upgrade A5 Preferences to the new format. What else do I need to do?

There is no manual available to guide me in the installation and how to use the app, or is it?  It looks like I need to play around with it to find out its full capability.  The website helps some, but there seem to be more stuff are still not being mentioned.  Thanks to Noodles Hovar for mentioning about the default DateBook's week view is replaced by A5.  Now I understand the purpose of A5WeekHack.prc for.  That is certainly a neat way to launch A5.  I don't need to assign a button for A5 with EasyLaunch.  All I need to do is to press the DateBook button twice.

Thanks

Acording to a reliable source, "Agendus Rocks". I use it too, but I got it for free.

To put an icon on a To Do:

Options/General/Misc/To Do Category Icons

- you can't have a different icon for each To Do

To put an icon on a meeting:

Click on the meeting name (not the time)
A window appears on top of the screen.
Click the very upper right of the box.
Attributes window appears.
Click blank box and select icon from installed set.

Thanks Noodles Hovar. It works! :D. Especially after I hard reset and reinstalled everything including A5. Apparently I had some trash files that had corrupted the RAM.

I'm able to have different icons for each individual ToDos, besides the general Category icons, by doing similar maneuvering that you have described to get an icon for a meeting.  The individual icon will over-ride the Category icon.

Do you know where i can get better icon selections than the default one (A5icons)?

Do a search on Google for "Agendus icons". Only lo-res icons work, though.

The program dbIcon+ lets you draw your own icons and add them to an existing set.. This is nice because no one icon set does it all for everyone.

A5 Update:

I just upgraded A5 version 0.1e4 to 0.1e6. A couple improvements are:
1. You can now delete task and event in A5 screen.
2. You can view A5 from DateBook agenda view by enabling A5AgendaHack.

I'm sure there are more options that I still don't know. I'm glad to see the pdf manual available. It has been very helpful to me.

The next thing I'm planning to do is to build my own A5 icon sets via Icon Manager. HandyShopper (HS2) icons, made also by the same developer of Icon Manager, seems to work in A5. Has anyone done this?

If you want to save money and are looking for next best DateBook/ToDo replacement for free, A5 is it. I may spend $6 for Icon Manager though, but that is considerably less than $25. With DateBk5, you also end up getting Icon Manager if you want to customize your icons.

I don't think that Icon Manager comes with DateBk5. They are from two different authors. Chris Antos of HandyShopper wrote Icon Manager, and CES Dewar DateBk5. DB5 does however, come with dbIcon+, which is a low-res icon editor.

What I meant was some DateBK users end up using Icon Manager also to modify their DateBK icons, which means spending another $6 on top of $25.

Yeah, but IMHO both programmers are two of the most encouraged and most responsible people beside all the other great palm programmers! ;) in the palm developer scene...

I just bought Iconmanager to support Chris for his great HandyShopper and the money for DateBk is donated to Gorilla Haven - a wildlife trust.

Ah, BTW IMHO you don't have to buy (but you should ;) Iconmanager because you can organize your icons with the freeware version, too. At least the version bundled with designsbybert iconset can do that...

I like to edit the icons, change color, make my own icons, etc. So Icon Manager is perfect for that. IMO, the app is well worth the price.
