Zire 71 camera switch...

I've been using my Zire 71 for over a year now, happy with its performance until just recently. The sliding switch which turns on the camera and the 71 will not allow camera or device to function either in the full open position or full closed position. I have to slide the switch up and/or down in small increments in order for normal functions to operate. It's as if I have to find the "right spot" in order for the thing to work properly. Is there a fix, or is the 71 doomed to the circular file?

I would appreciate any input to remedy this situation....

This problem you're dealing with has to do with the cable inside the Zire 71, which, with repeated openings and closings has damaged part of the cable. If you are still under warranty, you may be able to convince Palm to allow you to send it in for repair or have it replaced. If no longer under warranty, you might have to try to fix it yourself.
