I installed an IRDA file on the Clie TH55 and now I want to delete it but I keep getting "This is a read only file". Anyone know how I can change the attribute on this file (to read/write) inorder to be able to delete it?

Try Filez: http://www.palmgear.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=software.showsoftware&SID=7220C047-7E95-2C26-2647B4529017C9B1&PartnerREF=&prodID=9992
But you may crash your device when deleting the file. So use it at your own risk.

Hi! Martin L,
This is what happened. I purchased a new Universal Wireless keyboard from Brando (in Hong Kong) after reading about it from the forum and Brando assured me that the TH55 is compatible with the keyboard. I installed the keyboard, performed the hotsync successfully and the keyboard did not work. I tried to repeat the hotsync but this time it just refused to work. The hotsync starts on both the handheld and the laptop PC, but nothing syncs. The PC can't even see my username. When I cancel the handheld hotsync, it says "Cancelling please wait ......". But it just stays there until I do a soft-reset. All I want to do is delete the main program (IRDA.prc) installed by the keyboard. I am running Windows Me on my laptop. It seems like the install just knocked something out of my hotsync setup. I am really new at this pda thing (2 months experience) and please help me.

I know nothing about this Brando keyboard, so I can't help with this.
Do you have a Memory Stick? If so, you can copy Filez to it using a card reader attached to yo PC and on your device copy it to RAM using ClieFiles.
If nothing helps it looks like a hard reset is the only help. It erases the TH55 completely (you're loosing ALL data on the device) and it's like fresh out of the box.
Copy the PalmDesktop folder to a save place and uninstall all Sony desktop software.
Do a warm boot and install PalmDesktop for Clie again.
Then install your software back on the Clie. You'll find it in a subfolder of the backuped folders. It's called "..\Sony Handheld\(your_name)\backup". Make sure you don't install anything from that IRDA thing!
You'll also find folders named Address, ToDo, Datebook and Memo with a .dat file each. Copy those to the same folders of the new installed PalmDesktop and you'll get your entries for address, memo, databook and todo back.
Hope this helps

Thanks for your help, Martin L. I will try this and perform the hard reset.
