Anyone know what the expected lifespan would be for the built in battery of an NR70V ?

Thank you.

If you are looking at how long a charge should last, it's around 5 hours on the lowest back light setting. If you're looking for how long the battery will last before it needsreplacement, I would say at least 2 years, quite possibly a lot longer. The battery should outlive the usefulness of the unit, but you never know.

Thanks, pigburner... I was referring to a replacement because of the problems I described on the thread "Spontaneous Reincarnation" (no responses to that). My clie has been going a little nutsy lately and I thought that the battery might be getting ready to go.

If your issues are that major you might want to send it back to Sony under warranty. It stinks to be without but it's better to have it back in one piece. I would give Sony a call.

I got my PEG-NR70V Clie ten months ago last May. I am not a heavy user, but the battery seems to be draining pretty fast, right before my eyes (just like what the NZ-90 forum people seems to be talking about). I would get a full charge and 2 hours later in full brightness mode it would drop down to 40% and that's just with writing a few notes, checking out avantgo offline and keeping it on. Is this normal after more than half a year of very minimal usage everyday?

Full brightness is the biggest issue. Even with a new battery the best I could do on full brightness was 3.5 hours. I can get well over 5 with the brightness turned all the way down.

Thanks for replying...I thought my Clie was just rapidly aging...well it's obsolete anyway...

You're right, it's been replaced, it is definitely obsolete. Send it to me and I will take the piece of dog doo off your hands.:)

Well... I did the deed. I sent my Clie into Sony yesterday.. How do you all handle going cold turkey like this?? My hands are shaking... I keep poking things with my stylus... I don't think I can handle this for a whole week....

HEEELLPP!!

One time when I was jonesing like a crack fiend I went to circuit city and bought one for a week. They have a very liberal return policy, I felt dirty afterwards for taking advantage of them, but when one needs a fix....

:D :D OHH, what a great idea!! Now all I have to do is get circuit city to build a store here in the next 24 hours. :D :D

Thanks for your help, pigburger.

A quick update.... I sent the Clie to Sony (Hawaii to San Diego) on Friday 3/7 and got it back on Thursday 3/13. Pretty fast. The invoice indicates they repaired the memorystick, but there was nothing to indicate whether or not they dealt with the other problems. (!?!?) We shall see.

6 long days, not bad at all. Is there any mention of them swapping out memory or motherboard? Just think, send it back 2 more times for the same thing and they'll ship you a new one....

On the form they sent back under description of parts or service, it says:

Spacer, MS 103
Spacer, Protection 103
Constant data input/output
Replaced parts

I understand the first two are about the memorystick problem, but the third doesn't mean diddly to me. (???) I have no idea what they did or didn't do regarding the spontaneous turn ons and the automatic running of programs and alarms problem that I was having.

Ken Mind did that when I'd had it less than 30 days.  That's how I ended up with an NX.

I have had mine for about 7 months and its been working great, and there's a dead pixel in the screen, anyone knows if I can still replace it under the warranty?
