I have a friend with a TJ-27 on which we discovered the other day the two screws on the right side were gone. We never realized it until then, but it explained why his stylus wasn't staying in the silo and why the case was coming apart. Another friend with the same model has reported the same thing happening to him.
I have a TJ-37 and I'm worried now that my screws are going to come loose one day and fall out. Anyone else experience this, or know why it happens/how to keep it from happening?
Sony support was little to no help, since they could hardly speak english and wanted him to send his unit to India or something. I'd rather deal with a cosmetic nusiance than be without my unit for x number of weeks, but *where* is Sony's reputed quality control?
Send the device to India? Why would they want that? They have to pay the shipping and they have many Service Centers over the world. Did your friend buy an imported model? I doubt they sell CLIE's in India though.
I don't think that the screws are that easy to come off, so I don't think you should be worrying. Try calling Sony's Support at another time and if the same person picks up the phone, ask to speak to either another person or the manager and tell the problem to them.

The screws are coming out on my 37 also.
The one holding the compartment closed on the left side of the device and one of the ones on the right... It happened on my 35 and my T615c too... It just happens. I had to find screws that fit for replacemnts.

My problem is totally the opposite from you guys. I own a PEG-TJ37 and would like to open it just to see how it is inside. From the bottom left hand-side (if looking from the front of the screen) there is a small cover; what looks like a place for replacing the battery but I can't open it because it is one of those security screws. It looks like theTri-Wing screws that Phillips Screw Co. makes but it is not twisted, the 3 slot is divided evenly like a triangle.
I look all over the net for the hex drive bit to remove it but no luck  .

I found out what that type is called, "Y" Head Screwdriver. Cliebattery sell battery replacement for the PEG-TH55 series but not the TJ-37 model battery yet.

I only had my tj37 for about 2 months before I noticed the screw just above the on/off switch had come out. Support couldn't just send one to me in the mail so it took two weeks round trip for them to fix it. I hope I don't have to send it in for something complicated! :)

Funny... they must have switched them on the TJ37's. My TJ35 has a normal Phillips head screw.
BTW, you can get all sorts of tools on eBay. Search for "security" or "tamper proof" driver kits. I got a kit last week to open my DeWalt battery charger. Turns out it only had a blown fuse...

My friend used to think that I had a loose screw...
So far my screws in my TJ-37 have not gotten loose. But the screws in my Treo back out all the time, so I put a drop of thread lock on them and screwed them back in.

Just a word of caution: Many types of threadlock literally eat plastic. Be careful when using it. Make sure you have the right kind, and know what material you're using it on.

Same thing happened to me, lost one Y screw, one phillips. As long as you are in warranty, just call customer support and they will gladly send you replacements! I just called and they are sending mine right away. Now if I could get my cracked glass replaced for free...that would be nice. I'll have to get it from here...
