Can anyone confirm whether the TG50 bundled headphones have an inline remote transport control?

No. Simply look at the headphone jack. Not as identical on the N/NR/NX/NZ series.

Couldnt't the internals of the jack be designed to accomodate an extra signal though? Wishful thinking I guess...

Wired headphones? Why not bluetooth headphones? Now that would be cool!

Yes, it would be cool but I don't think the Bluetooth radio is integrated into the audio hardware like on cell phones.

SonyEricssion will announce a new bluetooth headphone in CeBit this month along with their 2 new mobile phone T601 and T301. The bluetooth headphone has a MS Duo slot. You could vist SE site to check it out.
