I need a palm with Bluetooth so I Have decided on the T series.

I have the opportunity to buy lightly used T's at $130 or T2's at $195 or a T3 at $250

I will do mostly email checking, SMS, ebook reading, plucker reading, maybe a few light strategy games thrown in.

Battery life is important so I am kind of pushing the T3 aside even though I really like the screen real estate for reading.

I will be connecting to internet via my Bluetooth enabled V600 motorola phone through GPRS. I hope this is not a problem with any of these as it wasn't with my Clie through infared.

I heard the T's can be upgraded to Grafitti 2?

I'm leaning towards the T simply for the price. The memory is a bit limited compared to T2 but its not $50 limiting is it? I can store all my apps and books anyway on the secure digital card. I heard though that the T1 has only 1 bit, is the T2 slot faster? I have a high speed Panasonic 128mb card.

Well the TT series come with Phone Link to help you set up your connection, bt if there isn't a driver for the V600 (I'm pretty sure there isn't so far) you'll need to input the settings manually.

As far as the T vs T2 goes the memory isn't the only difference. The screen on the T2 is TFT whereas the T isn't so you should have a look at both screens and see which one you like best. The T is easier to see outdoors, but the T2 can be much brighter if you need it. Battery life on both is good (better than T3).

Also you should look out for the screens - some of them have a low, whiny buzzing.

If you do get one, check out SlideFree so you don't have to open the slider all the time.

For my money, I would buy the T2, no question. A friend of mine has the TT and we were blown away by the difference in screen quality. Also, the T had some issues, and many consider the T2 the "T without all the issues." For me, the increased screen quality and bug fixes are worth the extra $50.

You may get an even better deal directly from PalmOne.com. They are selling the T2 for $188 with a FREE 32MD SD card.

i say you should pick up that used T3, and a powerpack for another $50 if you're concerned about power. that's still $100 less than the price of a new T3. the extra screen space is great when browsing the net especially in landscape.

I've heard the T1's screen is much more usable in sunlight though.

Forget the T - too many issues with that machine, especially the digitizer one. And even though you can store applications on your SD card, they will run faster from RAM and the T only has 16 meg of memory. Trust me - 16 meg doesn't go very far.

The T2 is a solid PDA - I had one before buying my T3. It's pretty fast, has decent memory and a nice screen.

A couple of reasons to pick the T3, though:
1. Fast processor. This is important for things like web surfing, especially since BT is slow enough by itself.
2. If any PalmOS PDA is going to be upgradeable to Cobalt, it'll be the T3 (and maybe the TC).

Good luck!

Just logged in after a couple of weeks off. I LOVE using my T3 with my V600. Fast & steady. Even better with the 480x320 screen. Setup was a snap. I can use my laptop, V600, T3 & Jabra Freespeak in various combinations together and feel free-as-can-be! I even use my laptop with the V600 when I'm on the road and although a it slow, I can log into the server at the office and do what I need to.

I read alot with my T3 and having the 480x320 is definitely the way to go on that front as well. I've had 320x320 and don't think I could ever go back.

Definitely a T3 would be my choice, especially with the V600. A great combination!

I just bought a new T|2 to replace my failed T|E. I think it's pretty much the best of both worlds in terms of size, battery life and screen quality. The only negative I have with the T|2 is the awful audio quality which isn't a big deal since I no longer use my PDA as a mp3 player (got an iPod instead).

The T|3 screen size is great, but I really Hate the slider concept which covers part of the screen. On the T|2 you're only covering up the silk screen area (which makes sense) and really reducing the size of the unit in the process.

Erm, but then you don't have the option for a bigger screen, just a silkscreen! And you can write on a T3 without opening it.

You can also write on a T2 or T1 without opening it..
