View Full Version : in airplanes
I am considering getting a Treo smartphone, but I have one maybe completely stupid question:
How do you use the treo organizer a multimedia features in an airplane without having the cell phone switched on (which of course is not allowed) and how do you explain this to the flight attendant???
cheers Nicolas

This is one VERY good reason why smartphones can never totally replace PDAs. There would also be no way that the flight crew could be sure that you have turned it off - therefore it would be an unknown quantity risk. I suspect they would see the ariel and insist it be turned off.
I personally prefer to use my T3 with Bluetooth to give it the connectivity with my T610 mobile.

The Treo has an 'airplane mode' which allows you to turn off the phone functions, but unfortunately you're still going to encounter flight crew who won't understand the difference and will insist you switch the unit off.

Previoulsy, I used Sony Ericsson P800, I can switch off the Phone and use it as PDA on the plane.
