Anyone noticed that Graffiti 2 is anoying? I´m kind of torn appart. On the one hand G2 is faster than G1: upper case and some stuff like & @... but chars like :,() and so on take long to enter, because you have to wait until the system is done with waiting for multi stroke stuff. Is there a way to adjust this lag time, or should I change to G1?
I found enough threads telling me how to do it...I just dont have a palmOS5.0 device and my N770C is taken appart and I´m missing the right screwdriver to put it back together...any other way to get the files? The simulator has them, but I can´t beam from it for some reason...

IMHO, G2 has pretty much no advantages over G1 except for the middle-caps ability, which is neat. However there are hacks for OS5 which can convey this ability to G1-enabled OS5 PDAs so you can have G1 and the middle-caps.
To get G1 onto a G2 PDA, you need to get 2 files:
Graffiti_Library.PRC and
Graffiti_Library_enUS.PRC
The Graffiti files from OS4 PDA will NOT work.
If you Google for 'em I'm sure you'll find them, or maybe people here would be able to help you :)
And for the sake of Murphy don't Hotsync the files to your PDA. You HAVE to copy them to VFS or something via MSImport and then copy them into RAM via Filez or something similar.
Otherwise serious weirdage will occur.

Beyond the middle caps ability, it has easier, quicker, more intuitive punctuation for the most commonly used symbols (,.!?'",& etc.). Since these are the ones I use most frequently, I've eventually found G2 to be quicker (for me, anyway) than the original Graffiti.
I just wish Palm had been able to keep the one-stroke letters it lost in the Xerox fiasco. The ruling was overturned too late to affect those with an OS5 devices so Palm is unlikely to revert back or even change anything.

I just never could get the hang of the different strokes, and it simply annoyed me. Decuma is something I play with . . . I do think it's neat, but . . . for practical purposes, G1 is more effective . . . for me.

I have been using G2 almost since I got my T3 on 9/26, but I've never gotten completely comfortable with it. In playing around with PPC over the past couple of weeks, I really see the advantage of G1. I'm going to install G1 on my T3 tomorrow.

I could never get use to G2 either. The day I got my Palm Zire 71 when it was first launched I thought hey, I could live with it. After a week I was desperate for a solution to replace G2 with G1. At that time before the 'method' of having to switch to G1 was avialable, I had to use www.tealpoint.com's TealScript software to input G1

I really wish they would - Graffiti 1 was the epitome of simplicity and elegance for me, and has a consistancy that G2 has just abandoned for no good reason.
In G1, every lower-case character was one stroke, every upper-case character was 2-strokes (Or 1 if you used those 2-strokes to turn on the caps-lock :), every punctuation character was 2-strokes, every lower-case accented character was 2-strokes, every upper-case character was 3-strokes.
The more common the character, the less strokes it used. Come to think of it, almost every character was 1-stroke; In almost all cases, the extra strokes were just to set different 'shift' modes for the entry!

I took to G2 quickly and find it better than G1 overall. Yes, it is annoying that the additional characters drawn after a up-stroke are slow. But I rarely use them. Overall I find G2 to be closer to my natural writing.
Note, I used G1 for four years prior to switching to G2.

I used G1 since my early days with the Palm IIIx so the transition to G2 was anything but smooth. Some two-stroke letters came more easily than others & I do find myself making the occasional mistake.
I really realized the advantage of G2, however, was after I had used it for a while & then went back to write on an older Palm device. All the upstrokes, double upstrokes & dots really slowed me down. A lot. Why couldn't I just make a question mark? or a simple exclamation point or two!! without extra effort. ;)
It's truly an individual choice - whatever works best (or fastest) is what you'll stick with.

I find G1 better for writing on the move too, it is more forgiving - not "t" instead of "l" and a space!

I loaded G1 on my T3 yesterday and my handwriting speed improved dramatically. I'm surprised at how much I quickly remembered - as well as how much I have forgotten :( It does make playing with my PPC easier since they have the equivalent of G1 on there.

I put G1 on my TH55 yesterday also. Decuma is really interesting and I admire it's capabilities, but I really missed the elegance of G1 with its simple strokes. Like Vidge, I'm surprised at how quickly it came back. My speed also improved markedly.

I having been trying G2 and I feel that I am about as fast with it as G1. However, the one problem that I really have with it is in Pocket Quicken. This app tries to speed up entries by memorizing previous entries. Then as you "type" a letter it tries to recall a memorized entry by choosing a best choice as each letter is entered. Well, the two-stroke letters really mess this process up. I don't know if it is the developers fault for not creating a better OS5 option, or Xerox's.

I tried G2 on my NX60, found it to be a terrible waste of my time (same with Decuma), and the day I got my NX80 I switched it to G1.
I have scanned the Graffiti .pdb's and it appears as if you can have G1 AND G2 on a device at the same time. Has someone already tried that?
If not, somebody needs to suggest that to CliePet. I imagine it would take him less than half a day to do.

If that's intended towards me, I just found that thread. It did me no good, although anyone browsing for G1, it will do a LOT of good.
In order to have both, I believe you need to mess with
StdInput.prc
StdInSoftGSkin.prc
At one time, I edited one of those files so that the Silk Launcher said Graffiti 1.
My money is on those files pointing at Graffiti Library.prc and Graffiti Library_enUS.prc.

I have Clie SJ133. Computer crashed. Restored but now need to reinstall Drivers and can't find disks. Sony doesn't have them on the support section of their website. Anyone know where I could find them? Thanks in advance.

I guess I've just gotten used to G2. I would probably have to start over if I went back to G1...I've forgotten all the different strokes!
