is there a way to purchase or get picsel viewer to run on the NX ??? I checked the picsel website and doesn't say anything regarding end-user sales of the software...
Has anybody been able to get a copy of picsel for the NX series ??

Nope. Sony licensed the picsel viewer for the NZ only and from what I hear it doesn't run on the NX.

I don't understand why it wouldn't work on NX. Everything is basically the same!

I think maybe if we make a petition or something to Picsel they will release a commercial version of the viewer... looks like a very nice product to me... maybe NZ users can give us some insights and how it compares to Documents to Go in terms of functionality and if they miss the editing capabilities in exchange of better viewability...

I believed that the Picsel Viewer installation program (PRC file) is smart enough to detect a "Picsel Technology" licensed device, hence an NZ or the TG50 model. Even copying the Picsel Viewer's PRC and PDB files from Memory Stick to RAM won't make it work on NX.

I've tried it and it doesn't work, and like msgate said it doesn't work off the MS neither...

the Sony japanese support site lists NX users as potential picsel users. I think we will have to wait a bit to have it on our NXs, but it should come... I hope.

Technically it should work, but there is probably one of two reasons that they haven't released a version to run on the NX's.
One, they are working on a retail version, and just haven't got it ready yet. And they figured people would try to steal it from other devices so they blocked it from working on devices that its not authorized for.
Two, they made some kind of argreement with Sony to only have it on new devices. Maybe another way for Sony to get us to upgrade.

I think that with more or less SIMPLE patch we could get it working on NX's too.
Some guy at [PWG] did the same with older versions of Clie-specific software, so I think that Picsel is fixable too.
From a legal point of view, I think that it is correct for someone owning both PDAs (an NX and an NZ) to have Picsel software working for both...
So, anyone wants a patch for that ;P ?

Almost every piece of comercial software only allows it to be run on one machine. You need mulltiple licenses to run on multiple machines.

as i mentioned before... how good does picsel compare to docs to go... is it that good the viewability factor to go with it instead of docs to go ???

Correct. But then why should the users wait so long?

Very simple, Sony wants you to upgrade so you can be abused some more. We're looked at as dollar signs, not people.

Well Larry, I agree :)
If someone wanted a patch I could try :)
