Hey, if you check out this site - http://www.palmoslove.com/work/feature/news20030304.html -and look through the images halfway down you can see that the keyboard area does light up. This would make data entry on the device very easy in the dark. Sony obviously thought out the design of the TG50. The screen does appear to have the slight shadows at the bottom like previous models, though.

As for the size of the device PIC has it listed here - http://www.palminfocenter.com/view_story.asp?ID=5072 - as being 2.8" wide by 4.96" long and .64" inches thick. Now the dimensions for the T665C can be found here - http://www.palminfocenter.com/view_story.asp?ID=3708 - list the T665C at being 2.83" wide by 4.65" long by .50" inches thick. If this is accurate and correct it means the TG50 is only slightly bigger then the T665C. If you take the hard cover off, it looks like it would be thinner, and almost as thin as the T665C.

I REALLY like the design of this PDA. I'm not buying one because it doesn't fit my needs, but I'll give Sony props on the design.

Hopefully they'll finish things by creating a similar OS5 machine with VG.

A VG area would light up better though.

True, but's nice Sony thought of this. My complaint is if you had VG on that device your battery life would not be that good!

I'm sure that Sony researched before they out in the thumboard. Now, I read somewhere that without the lid, the device is only .54" thick, so that is almost the same size as the T, only slightly longer.

I'm not trying to be nitpicky about the TG50 but....

do you think that the keyboard placement is too low??

That is something I've thought about, but it will be hard to say until there are some English hands-on reports. Most Japanese users have small hands, and I'd like to hear how someone with big U.S. mitts handles the device.

besides, seeing pictures is completely different than holding it in your hand. it seems to be the perfect device for me, even without VG, and the thickness varies from place to place-- the Sony site says .61" and the PalmOSLove site says .64". Somewhere else reporter .6", so it'll depend on seeing it hands-on for me.

Gotta love that glowing 'bluetooth' on the top. It actually glows 'blue'! Doh!

IMHO, 320 x 320 with a VG will cause the working space smaller ... not very practical

I think they want VG instead of the thumbboard, making the screen 320x480

there already is a type of VG on the TG50, but it takes up quite a bit of the screen-- much the same, it appears, as the onscreen keyboard does on the T-series now.

besides battery life concerns, i don't see any reason NOT to make a T-series with true Hi-Res+. Those that want the thumboard have it and those that want VG have it, too; the best of both worlds.
