What are the best freeware apps that match(or are comparable to) the ones found on the Games Essential Secure Digital Card?
The apps on the card are:
1. SimCity
2. Atum
3. Billiards
4. Chroma (chess/checkers/backgammon)
5. Shanghai (mahjongh
6. Ricochet (ball bouncing game...)
I have the card that ran with my Tungsten E, but alas doesn't work in the Memory Stick slot of my new CLIE TJ27... ;)
Any recommendations would be appreciated...
Why don't you simply copy the prc files from the sd card using a card reader at your or someone else's pc? If you still have your Tungsten E, you could use it to copy the prc files to your pc.

Yea I'd be interested to know if you could actually copy the games off the card, I bet there is some sort of security in place to prevent that. I believe the security is actually part of the SD Card spec S=Security??
As far as the games go..
Simcity - is available but a downloadable one does not work on all devices, the one on that card is a different version., There also is a freeware simcity type game somewhere on sourceforge.net forget what it was called
Shanghai - is also available from Landware and there is a good freeware version of that type of game, and PDAmill Asia is the latest incarnation of that type of game and is very good (full screen support)
Billiards - is available from Megasoft2000.com, do not know of any freeware pool games, check freewarepalm.com
Ricochet - is good, and available from astraware.com - no freeware version that I am aware of
Atum - ?????
Chess - a few good one out there I personnally use Chess Genius, again do not know of any freeware versions of chess
Hope that helps

Doesn't work... I don't have the T|E anymore as it was defective
:(
Matrix42...
Thanks for the info on the apps... I hate the idea of having to replace each of them, but Sim City doesn't even seem to be replaceable as the version available from the company doesn't work on OS 5... That doesn't quite make sense to me, but...
Guess I'm stuck with the SD card until I migrate back to the PalmOne handhelds...

Try making an ISO of the card, then you copy it to your Memory Stick, I think itll work.

What is an ISO?
Second, the card will not mount on the desktop using a card reader... My desktop is a Mac running OS X...
I have found a few replacements that are freeware:
1. Pocket City (respectable, just not quite Sim...)
2. The Prison (a good breakout style game... )
3. Checkers ( found on freewarepalm)
4. OpenChess (an open source app...)
Thanks for the info.

An ISO is a digital image of a drive, so it would just make a copy of all the files on the SD card, then you could extract the prc and pdb files in the ISO and install them onto your PDA.
As for a card reader for Mac's there should be quite a few around, you'd really need a card reader to make an ISO of your SD.

Thanks for the info... I already have a Mac compatible card reader... the card will not mount on the desktop...
The freeware replacements that I have found are suitable...
