View Full Version : Complete lock up! Help!

I was having problems with the find - fatal error thing yesterday and so I backed up and hard reset the NX70V and restored etc. Sorted, no problem. I've been using it today without problems.
Now suddenly I have a completely locked up NX70 - I've tried another hard reset but nothing works - any ideas / can anyone help? Can't power off via the switch and it isn't timing out either; the screen is lit but won't accept input. I've no idea where to go on this one...... :confused:

There are a couple possibilities. Have you installed any new software very recently? Especially something that messes with the system operation..like GrafittiAnywhere, MSMount, JackFlash or hardware driver like for the game controller?
It could be one of those software items locking things up. If hard resetting gets it back, you may have to hard reset and restore item by item rather than from a backup.
If you aren't able to even hard reset, then you may have to follow the more drastic approach, which is to let the battery drain to the point where the Clie won't power on. Then recharge it. This process takes a couple of days. This clears memory that hard resetting doesn't. Try then reloading again. If none of this works, then you are left with probable hardware issues.

thanks for the reply.
I was getting the fatal exception -reset error and followed the instructions in an old thread to backup and hard reset and it seemed fine for a day but this lockup has me completely stumped as after hard resetting the Clié is simply not responding at all. There's no possibility of restoring singly or en masse.
I think I'm just inside the year's warranty so I'll have to give Sony a call I guess??
edit: forgot - no new software but I did delete some but then reinstalled from the backup so that should be OK.

Sony think it may be a mainboard problem and are collecting it......
