Just last week, I purchased the TH-55 over the T3. Lots of humming and hawwing and I found it a very difficult decision. In the end, London Drugs had a sale on the TH-55's when the manager found out that Sony was leaving the industry. Thus I saved approximately $70 Canadian. That will offset the extra money needed to get a non-switch 256mb MS......

Has anyone came up with a driver that works to make the KB22 (the thumboard keyboard) work with this machine, or the KB11 for that matter? Is there a thumbboard that will work with this machine? These are all probably answered: NO!!!

NOW FOR THE MEAT OF THIS POST:

Anyhow, here is a list of all the apps I was using on OS4 (T665C), please comment on what apps best replace them in OS5 (the bulleted ones are most concerning to me from a OS4-to-OS5 functionality point of view).....

*PiDirect - added question....does the fact that PiDirect will not work mean that my TH-55 may actually be slower than my T665C as the TH-55 will need to swap in full databases instead of just the needed portions...or has MS support been improved enough to make this a non-issue?

HBForms
DALauncher - plus many many DA's, but I think they are all still functional in OS5, am I right about this???
SmartListToGo - hoping to go with HandBase alone
JackFlash
JackSprat
McFile - my understanding is that ClieFile is pretty good these days so I might go native on this one
FastCPU - kind of obsolete on this machine me thinks

So there you have it, any and all comments are greatly appreciated.I am hoping to pull this machine in to full functional status over the next week or two as my medical residency starts on July 1st and this machine is essential to my survival.

Thanks again for your time and consideration

It will NOT work with OS5. I use ZLauncher's shortcut function as a replacement.

Zlauncher
It works well with the TH55. Just make sure you uncheck the 'Assign to Home Button' in the Clie Organizer.

You have to use Uninstall Manager in place of the hack. Don't worry, you don't need to register it again. Just insert your old reg code into it and it'll work fine (as long as you keep the same hotsync name from the previous device). Fonts4OS5 is my replacement to fonthack123. I don't know about the others.

I don't have these and can't comment.

Archimedes
Works fine on my TH55.

Ereader
Works really well, especially when reading in landscape mode.

AudioPlayer
PGPocket
The TH55 will come with a newer version of AudioPlayer and ClieViewer has replaced PGPocket.

CleanUp - comes with uninstall hack
Works fine without any problems.

WordSmith
A bit quirky with the VG, but otherwise it works ok. The fonts are a bit blurred and fuzzy.

DALauncher - plus many many DA's, but I think they are all still functional in OS5, am I right about this???
Only some DAs will fully work, partially work, or not work at all with OS5. There was a post somewhere in ClieSource that started listing a few apps. Can't recall the thread though.

Good luck...

I would read the following thread for some advice. http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46592

Aaaaa! Aaaah! Too long!!!

But.. okay:

PiDirect - Never liked PiDirect, but on OS4 there was always the choice of PiDirect or MSMount. There is an MSMount5 for PalmOS5, currently at beta6, but it works pretty well and does the same thing MSMount and PiDirect did on PalmOS4.

DALauncher - As long as you are using DALauncher5, it will work perfectly in PalmOS5! I just copied DAL5 and all my DAs over from my T665. With the exception of AudioControlDA, they all worked the same as they did in PalmOS4.

JackSprat/Flash - Not supported at all on the TH55 :(

FastCPU - Also not supported

iSilo - I'm currently using the latest beta (Well, Release Candidate now :)) and it works perfectly with the TH55 except there are some weird issues with the TH55's Left and Right buttons not always being recognised. (But this is an issue with many apps, not just iSilo... Oh how I wish JogAssist was still there!)
