Ok, no one cared about the Win-hand but can you tell me if the screen can be adjusted like Netfront so I get to see everything? Can I play games? Is it slow? Does my PC need to be on?
Starting new thread, because this isn't related to 2GB Memorysticks.
Win-Hand is a program which allows you to view, and remotely control, a Windows PC desktop from a Palm OS PDA. It's similar to pcAnywhere or GoToMyPC, but not as full featured. There are two components, one runs on the host PC, the other on the client PDA. The PC must be running and (near as I can tell) the host software will not run before Windows starts, which means a user must be logged onto the PC.
<<see everything?>>
There are three zoom levels. Using the UX50 with a host PC at 1024 x 768 resolution...
Widest view shows the entire PC screen with much room to spare. I assume this is to accomodate higher resolution displays. No details are discernible in this view, I have it disabled.
Intermediate view shows "nearly" the full screen. Icons can be recognized and some text is legible. I use this as an orientation view.
Closest view shows about one quarter of the screen. This is the working view in which text is legible.
<<Is it slow?>>
Yes, in particular if you enable color, but it is useable. Astonishing (to me) is that it is useable via a cellphone connection, GPRS (30k) or even CSD (10k), with the host on DSL. It requires some practice, because there is a noticeable delay between the time you tap or type and when you see the result on screen. I don't believe it would be enjoyable for games, but it can save your professional life when you are at dinner and realize you neglected to reply to an email which is stored on your office PC.
