Now, I realize there will be some who dont want to answer but just curious, because I would have paid more, and could have done the E-Bay thing, but wanted a perfect PDA with no pixel loss....
I paid 499.00 now thats with shipping. NIB retail
I have been wondering how much I could have saved is the real deal, now if it was broke, not working or anything like that state it.
I got mine for 500 CAD in November. That's half price. I bought the extended warranty also so it came down to 700 CAD but thats with a 500 CAD coupon... NIB from Futureshop.

yeah I was thinking that 500 was about the price peeps paid and at 52 reads and 1 post maybe its us who paid 500 and the rest paid 599.00. All must keep in mind this is not to rub it in anyones face for paying more, it 's just a curiosity thing anyway thanks C.L.

WHY!?? You know, when you buy new technology right when it comes out you're always gonna pay top dollar. I didn't go for the EW though...I never do. I feel the 1 year Sony one should cover me. Heck..I even have almost 9 months left on it.

Rob, I was actually glad I bought the EW...my ux50 died on me last month...and because of the EW, I got a brand new one from compusa...
Here's the story:

I still got the best deal. I have 3 years extended warranty and 700 CAD convert to about 550 USD, thats with tax!

Thing is now, almost everyone's out of UX's. :(
But!...if mine somehow breaks or dies in the next 8 months..Sony is obliged to either fix or replace it. I wonder how they're gonna do that with no PDA's left?? I wonder what they will send me/what I'll get instead?
Hope its the new 2.4K USD pocket Windows Xp pcs. Futureshop has to make up for me, not Sony.

I went to CompUSA and pricematched Circuit City sale prices at the time of $539.99 plus the 1 year $50.00 Express Replacement Plan. I agree with you from buying from unknown websites and E-Bay. With equipment like this I want to buy it personally even if it costs a few extra dollars. I also bought it with perfect timing too because as mentioned previously....you can't find the damn things anywhere anymore. Mine was, and is in perfect working order. I buy the plans too because a year down the line you never know what can happen with these things, and the nightmares I have heard regarding Sony Support I don't want to deal with. Not to mention if something happened your not guanteed Sony will send a new unit....I don't want to get a refurbished unit when I paid as much as I did for brand new.
I live in BC Canada. 2 stores made a grand opening and I am just one of those people who know a secret to their "scan and save" which spose to have 10/1000 sheet which is 500 bucks, 50/1000 is 100, 250/1000 = 50, 500/1000 = 10 bucks, etc. There are 4 amount of money of cards and I forgot what it is. I grabbed a bunch and the lady let me try more than 1 card to see which I want to use. I look at the back for 4 different bar code, one for each amount so I got the 500! ^^ My genius thinking. My friend collected the 4, his dad didnt let him buy it though and then it expired on that weekend.
The location of the two stores was one on Robson and one re-open in Coquitlam.

$550 USD NIB from ebay back in november
i dont know why people are talking down on ebay.
ebay is an outlet for merchants and private sellers. ebay is not a store and not everything is used/broken.

I paid 550 back in december from some no name online retailer. Not a great deal, but the greatest I could find at the time. Whatever.
Andy
*Edit: I got my 1 gig MS back at the same time off of ebay. I paid just under $400 for it, I think it was $390 shipped for a Sony stick. Both of them worked perfectly.

I got the following package for $500-
UX50 (like new)
Extended battery
2 256 Sony MS Pro's
I sold the MS Pro's for about $70 each on EBay, I think I came out pretty good!! :)
I use EBay all the time to buy and sell, and have never had any problems. It's all about checking the feedback ratings. Most people are decent and are not out to rob you, the ones that are get crappy scores and don't last long on EBay.

Wow. You did get a great deal. What you got is well worth over $750+. Nice!
Yah, he seem to have the best deal! Man, I want 128 MB MS - apps, 256 MB MS Pro - music, 512 MB MS Pro most other stuff/T.V shows, ebooks, etc, 1 GB MS Pro - 1-2 movie.

I just bought a new UX-50 today at CompUSA. 599 + 99 for 2 year extended warranty.
For me, I don't care if I pay more, as long as I have the option of immediately returning it if something goes wrong. I guess I have bad luck in the past dealing with anything electronically related.
I also bought 2 months ago a UX-40 for 299 at CompUSA.

I paid $411 on EBay for a used UX50. Included a zippered case and a new WiFi NIC card.
Great shape and works great.
I'm not whining but my UX50 is...a little.

Last October I paid an eyewatering £557 for my UX50 which equates (at today's exchange rate) to just over $1000. At today's prices in the UK (where you can find stock) it is about $800.
I won't relate the prices for MemoryStick Pros - they're even more upsetting

I bought mine from compusa last September w/ the extended warranty. And my ux50 broke last month, so I got a new one from compusa. However, I was told by compusa that they no longer do walk-in exchange with the new extended warranty...you would need to deal with the company who offers the warranty directly.
In other word, in case your ux50 breaks, you would need to mail it in to the company that offered the warranty instead of taking it to compusa...which kinda sucks...
But I bought the extended warranty anyway, cuz ux50 is not a very solid device in terms of durability...mine broke last month, and my wife's ux50 just broke last week...the camera on her's failed...heck my palm vx is still working!

Man I kept the Futureshop warranty catalog and I know my rights so I'm walk-in and exchange if problem comes.

$599.00 at Fry's. But I did return a $399.00 Tungsten C that was given to me so I paid a net $200 so not too bad.

Actually, 2 weeks ago, I bought a UX50 at a different CompUSA store (Freehold, NJ). When I opened the box, NO UX on the box!!! So basically, they sold me an empty box with just the peripherals on it. They replaced it, but the replacement did not charge. So I ended up returning it, which was the last one in stock. Luckily, this week, a new CompUSA in Brick, NJ opened. That is where I bought my new UX50 with replacement plan. They said it is a walk in replacement if anything goes wrong. So far, no whine on both my UX.
And this coming Friday is their GRAND OPENING, they said to come back and check the price of the UX, for it might be on SALE! They said to just show my receipt and they'll give me the credit. I just hope they'll put it on sale.

I got mine off the sonystyle site for $599. Two days later, Sony announced they were leaving the PDA market. As soon as I heard that, I bought one of the EB40 batteries off of Page Computers website. Now they don't have any in stock. I'm sure glad I got my stuff when I did!!!!!

well thanks for all the replies guys, and its what i figured, like i said before I would have paid more, the week mine was delivered is the week they wouldnt sell in US anymore, I felt both ways, first glad I got it, second, unhappy for the even worse support we are about to receive. My NZ-90 was stolen out of my Ford SVT while at the pet shop here in Bolingbrook IL. the camera on it was the best all the software and the lens to back it up. 'course it was about a million pounds lol.
I remember in Canada, the NZ90 was 1299 and UX was 999 during September.
