ZLauncher 4.20 Now Available

* Added ability to add your favorite apps onto Top/Bottom bar.
* Added an option to Tap & Hold popup menu to create shortcut for the apps in /Palm/Launcher/ directory.
* Added ability to create alias for apps in the internal memory.
* Added support for GrxView/GrxViewPro. You can set GrxView/GrxViewPro in ZL Preferences > Advanced > Viewer as the default picture viewer.
* This feature requires GrxView/GrxViewPro 2.21 or higher versions.
* Added ability to playing MP3, Ogg, WAV, WMA via PocketTunes.
* Requires PocketTunes 2.1 or later installed, playing WMA requires PocketTunes 3.0.
* Added ability to open Hack via XMaster or YAHM.
* Ability to launch DA which is stored on expansion card.
* Added ability to automatically load available theme from /Palm/Programs/ZLauncher/Theme/ direcotry, if no available theme exists in the internal memory.
* Added an option in ZL Preferences > Display > Path-Tree Font to change the font of PathTree.
* Better support for Virtual Graffiti / DIA.
* Miscellaneous updates and bug-fixes.

Maybe I'm slow, but it wasn't immediately obvious to me how to get your favorite apps to show up in the top/bottom bars. But I lucked on to the solution, so in case anyone else can't figure it out, all you do is:

Go to the Top or Bottom bar menus
Tap on one of the squares that indicate what will be displayed in the top/bottom bar.
Voila, up pops a list of your apps!!

Yeah got same problem on a TH-55. Although some apps seem to have a tiny icon available that sits central like bejewelled for example.

But I must say I am happy with the ability to have the apps in the bars.

I just installed 4.20 and then rolled back to the previous version. Version 4.20's "better" VG/DIA support seems to be quirky for me. When I close the T3, then reopen it and turn it back on, the VG area is missing. I have to "open/close/open" the area to get it to return on version 4.20. After rolling back, it works perfectly again. I tried going to 4.20 again, and the problem then returns for me.

Anyone else with a T3 experience this?

There's also a "signal" option with the battery/memory stuff, which I don't recall seeing before. It might just be for the Treo or other phone-type-things. I was hoping it was for Wi-Fi, but it doesn't work for me at least.

Anyone have trouble deleting in Zlauncher. I installed the new version and tried to delete an app; Hold down the stylus and select Trash Bin from the list - nothing happens. Have all three rules checked.

Yeah, just tested it again, and still having several issues with it. Rolling it back again.

My setup is, I have the T3 poweroff when closed, and turn on when opened. In that setup, when the screen is full screen, I close it, then reopen it, the VG area sticks, and requires me to open/close it. The previous version didn't have this bug.

I have not experienced this on my T3. Are you using the Power on when opened option? I am not.

When I add a favorite app to the top bar, taping the OK or CANCEL buttons do not work. I have to switch to a different tab before I can tap OK and save the changes.

Same problem here and acually tapping another tab seems to be an adventure. It feels like the digitizer gets lost and I have to tap all over a tab to find a spot it likes.

Yup, I sure am. I am using Power Off when closed, and Power On when opened.

I haven't upgraded since 3.70.2, so some is this is real new to me! A few questions though:

Couldn't you already do this? I did notice that you can now do this to ROM/RAM apps, but why wpuld you want to and then have two icons?

Hiding the VG/Status bar and launching applications appears to have both a negative/positive behaviour on my NX70V with 4.2. One positive was Netfront, which expanded to fill the screen left by not having the status bar! a few extra pixels and a less cluttered screen I think adds a lot to its look. It did however make exiting a bit tricky, I had to use ctrl-H.

On the other hand Pocket Tunes just left the Status Bar area blank (CTRL-H again). Agendus though carried on as normal. It would be nice if this was an included feature but obviously with some control of its use i.e. applicable only to certain apps and definitely some consistency. Agendus looks wise I think would benefit from expanding to fill the status bar reserved area. But then again wouldn’t this type of function be more applicable to an application like codediver?

Is the icon cropping issue fixed in 4.20.1?
My UX VG sticks open with 4.2 and have to manually collapse all the time. The app icons in the toolbar menu are really cool but many icons are not fitting in the space alloted causing some annoying cropping. I think the only thing zztechs could do to fix this would be to increase the space between icons. It would mean fewer hotspots but I could live with that. No other problems for me so far.

4.20.1 Fixes this problem...It's not a perfect fix, but it is better.

I found what my problem with the DIA funkiness was. It was with BtToggle 2.4's Energy Saver feature that prevents accidental power-on's from keypresses when the Palm is off. If this feature is enabled, zLauncher 4.20 and 4.20.1 both get very quirky upon power-on. Hopefully one of the 2 authors will resolve the issue.

You know, small light blue bubble, that pops around the app you have your stylus on. Let me explain it little better. You have your stylus held on an application then a light blue bubble appearing starting from the top going clockwise until it reaches the top again and then the small menu appears(of course you could have the option of having this set off and/or working faster or slower to your prefs). I like having a little more graphic friendly launcher.

I just open the "msaudio" folder on the memory stick tab and tap on one of the mp3 files and it plays.

One other thing I noticed with mp3 playback selected in Zlauncher and it's not a big deal, but it's nevertheless cool is that when a song is launched from Zlauncher this way and a backup (with Backupman anyway) is initiated unlike Audilble or the mps players the selected mp3 continues to play.

Thanx, thats what I thought but it doesnt seem to work on my T|T. I can get acidimage to launch when hitting a jpeg icon but Ptunes doesnt. I have Ptunes on the sd card (but then, so is acidimage)...

Im sure you are correct! I think Palm Reader is the same if you set it as the default doc reader....has to be in RAM. Why the difference tho'?? :confused:

I think SoS is OK cause he knows it has to go in ram, but nausicaa I -was thinking maybe you had to check off "Enable Background Play" in Prefs, but mine still works even with that option unchecked.

I have no ideal other your model not supporting this feature.

Strange, I can see them in Thememanager as well, have you tried installing a new backimage (by sync'n) so it ends up in RAM? Then can you see it in thememanager? if so try then moving it (using thememanager) to the card and then can you still see it?
