Looking at the Sony NX80 site, I don't see any updates for the Palm Desktop. Is there any reason why the version on the PalmOne web site wouldn't work? There are a few nice features and more field support in the newer versions I'd like to use but not sure if there is a compatibility issue of any kind.

All those nice features won't work on your Clie. You need to have a Palm OS machine running OS 5.2.8 or the conduits won't sync any of those extra fields. It's also not easy getting your Clie USB drivers to work with 4.1.4. I finally got my T665 to sync with the 4.1.4 desktop only by using the generic Sony Handheld drivers that come with WinXP and I don't think these will work with an OS 5.x machine.

Oh..it will indeed work. Just expect some features unique to our Sony's to not be supported by PalmONE's version. e.g: Internal media option on the install tool for me & the other UX50 users.

You mean you were able to get calendar categories to sync and the extra fields in the Desktop like birthdays synced properly? That's certainly not the case with my T665 so I'd like to know how you did it.

Are you asking me or the original poster?
If me, no. I haven't tried syncing with this new Palm desktop version but I have in the past with my Clies...when everything was simpler. :)

Win,
Yes, I was asking you. Palm desktop 4.1.4 has a lot of extra features that work with OS 5.2.8 PalmOne machines like calendar categories, extra address fields and birthday fields in contacts. You can get a Clie to sync with this version of the Palm Desktop but none of these new fields will sync and things like the calendar categories are all reset to unfiled even if you had changed them in the desktop. Thus, the 4.1.4 version offer no advantage over the Clie 4.0.1 version since you can't sync any of the additional fields.
I'd be happy to be proven wrong though. :)

Thanks for the additional info. Yeah, I pretty much figured they would be largely incompatable. I was talking about a looong time ago when I used to sync my N760 with a non-Sony Palm Desktop. No problems. Boy have times (and OS's) changed! :D

Actually the only "new" field I want working is the Location field in the Calendar. This was added in 4.1.1 according to the Agendus threads. This field has been made more visible in Agendus but it is grayed out on the Agendus for Windows unless you have at least 4.1.1. The NX80 came with 4.1.0.
But all I see on PalmOne is 4.1.4.
