Is it safe to leave the Memory Stick in the unit all the time, while off or on? I have a new NX-80 that I don't want to mistreat. ;)
Thanks in advance for any answers.

No problem at all. Probably riskier to be putting it in and pulling it out all the time. The only media I would be concerned about leaving in would be Compact Flash because of the fragile slot.

It is perfectly safe to leave your memory stick in your new clie indefinitely. I have done it with my nx.80 for the past half of a year and have had no trouble.
btw: did you know that you can use your hotsync cable to access the internet through your PC? I am writing this right now, that way.
just download and install "softick ppp" from www.softick.com and follow its directions to establish a connection. Your nx80 shuld have the netfront browser pre-intalled. If it doesn't, it shold be on the disc that came with it.
P.S. I know that there is no reason to use this function; but it's fun!

I use my Clie to monitor an IRC channel when the PC is 'in use'(game). I'm sure that smart people can think of even better reasons.

Can you download files from irc onto your clie? I'm assuming not, but I've never seen this question addressed. Also, what palm irc program do you use?

depends on the browser you are using..
i believe netfront may recognize it as a file extension and ask if you want to save it onto the memory stick

Just to get back on topic :) I have been through three Sony's and the memory stick has never left the slot on any of them (except when I needed a different memory stick in there).
The "jury is still out" on the CF card in the NX80. I really liked the more sturdy cf slot on the NX60. I like having it in place. But it doesn't seem very sturdy.

I keep my CF card in at ALL times. Since CF cards are cheaper, I use it for my main storage. All I keep on memory sticks are movies that I convert and watch when I have down time at work. With my EB case, it allows me to keep my CF card in, while adding some stability to my nx80. I've not had one problem with it and I've been using it since Jan.
