memory stick problem

my clie seems to be reading my ms (as if i inserted it) very often, even if it has not just been inserted. this caused my handheld to freeze for 2-3 sec. why is this happening and what should i do? thanks!

Does it do it after a hard reset? If so, then it's hardware (erk), if not then I'd be looking for a DA etc that's doing something unpleasant.
