View Full Version : TG50 Navigate buttons
I just look at the TG50's pages posted on Japan site. I don't know if any of you guys notice the navigation buttons look identicle to the T665! From the T665's reviews, that is one of the cons on this model. Check this out:

Also, VG on TG50 seems to take up space on the screen. If you use the VG on TG50, you will only have few space left to see things. Check this out (scroll all the way down at the bottom):

I was considering to purchase the T665 but I was hold because of the battery life and the NAV buttons. IMO, The SJ33 might be thicker than T665 but that is because of the battery and that makes SJ33's battery life better.

It looks like the VG area on the TG50 is going to be just like the on-screen keyboard we have also had in PalmOS. You will have a couple of lines above the VG area. You will not actually see the app you are working in. You enter the text, and when you exit VG mode the text you entered will be pasted into the text field you had selected in the app.
I'm thinking that since there is a VG type function, and Graffiti is still in the OS, then it must be possible to use apps like GraffitiAnywhere to allow you to write on the screen without a VG area.

You also have to look on the keyboard section and see that there are also the arrow keys like on most fullsize keyboards. So, I'd think the arrow keys could replace the horrid scroll switch. As for the Graffiti problem, that could be alleviated if this image (http://www.sony.jp/products/Consumer/PEG/PEG-TG50/feat3.html) holds true and the keyboard lights up. If all of the main functions can be done with the thumboard, I don't see why they had to put Graffiti in except for possible compatibility issues. At least it's there.

regarding why they included the VG on top of the thumboard: some people-- as obvious by the constant requests for Hi-Res+ on a T-series-- will prefer to use Graffiti in that small of space even over the thumboard. personally, i'm more and more convinced every time i see the photos that the thumboard will grow on me.
thumboards were doubted when the NX debuted, and it is still on the TG50, but how many people are outspoken against not liking the NX/NZ series thumboard? To me, it seems most of them love it.

I love the idea of a thumboard. I just picked up a cable from supplynet and it allows me to connect to my cellphone and get online. With the keyboard, I could quickly and easily write e-mails to people.

as for your comment about the keyboard, I was wondering if the arrow keys on the current keyboard of the NX series can navigate through the launcher applications (much like the Tungsten's D pad) Because I know for a fact as an NR70v owner that the direction buttons on my keyboard do not interact with the launcher screen at all.
It would be really nice if these keys could be integrated to the launcher.
