View Full Version : NX & PowerRun: What is max # of apps?

What are the maximum number of apps you can run with PowerRun on the NX?   I think the most I've run is about 5 (currently 3).  Are there any slow-down issues when running more?

How many apps are you running with PowerRun right now?

None, but I imagine that you can run quite a few.
I have over 100+ apps on the MS, but ZLauncher was all I needed so far.

I have nine applications on my NX60 with the PR1.2 and have not noticed any slowdown. One thing I did notice is that you need to keep some databases in the RAM. ie: my Quickword needs the fonts bucket in the RAM.

I have nearly 100 apps on the stick; MS access is as fast as ever.

At one point, I probably had 150 or so apps on the MS with powerrun. there is no slowdown or any other problem with more apps moved with powerrun. Course most of them could be just moved to MS, but it just seems easier to move everything with pwerrun. That way I know I won't ever have problems running them off MS. It never hurts to move apps with powerrun. It might take a few milliseconds longer to load on some apps but I haven't noticed anything. I probably only have about 75 or so apps on the MS now (at least half of them with powerrun).

I have about 100 on power run with no slow down

I have 34 apps on PowerRun. No performance flaws until now.

The ones that don't have an associated DB, I use Z Launcher to move them directly to the MS. The reason: the shortcut PowerRun creates on RAM is 1 KB, and if you have many many apps, that adds up quite a bit.

(and yes, 11 MB of RAM ain't enough ;))

I am currently running 60 apps from the stick via PowerRun 1.2 plus aonother 20 that I moved to the stick with LauncherX. No trouble so far.

How can you tell if a program has an associated database?

I just thought of something. If I use power run I am going to spend a small fortune on software.

either look for similar creator id's or when you install an app, if you have to install more than 1 file for that app, the app has associated files. Just remember, it never hurts to move all apps with powerrun if you aren't sure.

Thanks to everybody who responded to my question!  I've moved more apps to card 'that way'.  I especially like how it moves all my HandyShopper databases to the card with the program (that's one I just added).

I've got 7.5 meg free now!  :)

While I'm sure I won't make it to 11, it's still pretty durn good!  ;)

Thanks again all!!!

I keep everything I can on my MS, and use PowerRun to launch and manage applications on the MS.

Using the builtin backup to MS app, I backed up my Clie to the MS.

I then did a cold reset of the device and tried to reinstall.

What I found was that none of the PowerRun shortcuts had restored onto the device, and when I updated the shortcuts, I then had to place each shortcut into its category. Not fun when you've got forty or fifty to do.

Is there any way to get either the Clie launcher or PowerRun to save those categories so I don't have to rebuild the categories after a cold reset?

Thanks,

Sean.

Is there any way to transfer document to go to MS?

Documents to Go will not work with Powerun. Sheets to Go can go into the launcher directery in the MS, but the rest needs to stay in RAM,. You can move all to RAM using JackFlash, though.

DTG works for me using PowerRun and all the rest go in the /Palm/Launcher folder

can you put docs to go on the ms without preventing it from syncing correctly? i have put wordtogo and sheettogo on the ms, but i have been reluctant to put documents to go on too. is my fear unfounded?

Whenever I transfer doc to go of sheet to go to MS using powerrun, I cannot run the program, its just go looping, is there anything wrong? I am using PowerRun 1.2

I have exactly the same problem, with the same version of Powerun.

Use PowerRun for the Docs to Go file only or just leave it in RAM! If you use the smartchart feature, that stays in RAM too. Put the rest of the suite in the /Palm/Launcher folder. The documents go in the /Palm/Programs/DXTG folder.

I just got PowerRUN (registered). What are the freeware apps you guys have in your ms, because 100 is A LOT. I only have 5. I wish I could put netfront on, can you?

n2ifp

Yucky, I don't use NetFront anymore! But you can if you want. You first have to install it with at least 6mb free, the move it with PowerRun. Only put apps that really need it, into PowerRun, others that don't require large databases can go directly into the /Palm/Launcher folder. There you can dump hundreds of apps with no problem, trust me... :)!

What do you use instead of Netfront?
(just curious)
