As the title speaks, sigh. Backupman doesn't exactly restore all the data backup'd into the SD/MMC card. Here's my tale;
Was using 1.2, backup'd every night and even a manual backup of having to copy them PIM db's (addressdb.pdb,contacts.pdb,etc) using McFile into SD card.
One day my T|E just didn't want to emit any sort of sound. No sound for games, MP3 application, etc. I thought a soft reset would do, but after 10 soft resets and multiple backups to the PC as well as SD card via Backupman as well as manually copying them DB's over, I decided to give it a hard reset.
After which. Sigh. I was able to restore the entire machine. When I checked my Calendar, the 'locations' (Enhanced PIM for T|E,T|3,and them newer Palms like the Z72) were all missing. Colour codings were still there, fair enough. Sadly my contacts too had problems. Contacts in T|E and T|3 (And so forth) comes 'enhanced' as well with birthday input, website, and up to 3 addresses, and you see most of my contacts listed have multiple addresses, to my shock they were all, missing. Back to raw Palm OS4.1 style PIM.
So I thought hmm. It didn't work. Why not use the new version of Backupman 1.42? To my horror. After I installed the trial version, my T|E didn't want to work as I tapped onto the Backupman program. It just hung. Soft reset worked fine but what's best is I now am unable to retrieve my backup sets from Backupman. Bloody hell.
Does anybody know of a better and more reliable Backup program? I don't quite ilke the new version of BackupBuddy for it can't restore the unit, at all. Which of course defeats the purpose of a Backup program :mad:
Anyhow I also tried copying my DB's back into the main memory using McFile after another hard reset.
Guess what? The contacts and calendar 'enhancements' too were missing. Bare in mind before I first hard resetted my machine for the first time as I back-up'd my stuff I was REAL SURE that they were there in Backupman, as well as before copying the DB's over manually.
My last resort was to dig up my PC backup, and problem solved.
The question here is now can anybody recommend a reliable backup software?
