Does anyone have experience with the 330ft Bluetooth adapters (9.99 US$) offered at ebay ?? A friend of mine told me they would only effectively reach up to 50ft... Is that right ? Are they all the same or are some better than others ?
IŽd appreciate any answers !! ;)
Thank you,
Lorenzo

AFAIK, there is NO, repeat, NO, BT signal that can travel more than about 30 feet or 10 meters. It's meant to be a SHORT RANGE wireless signal between DEVICES, not for NETWORKS.
like many things in life (and on eBay), if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is... :o

i remember reading from a previous post where there was two types of bluetooth chips/modules, Class 1 and Class 2. Class 1 (regular) having a range of up to 30 ft while Class 2 goes upto 100 ft. but 330 ft?? i dunno.... even if it's true, i think the device that'll connect to that will have to have the same 330 foot-range or else you're just using regular Class 1 BlueTooth with the 30ft range.

It ocurred to me after I posted that "330" could have been a typo: Most BT connections are rated for 10 METERS, 33' 0" would be a rough equivelent to that...

Class one BT devices are rated for 100m range (330ft). That range will be diminished by obstructions and interfererence from other radio signals in the 2.4mhz frequency range. I use a Class 1 dongle with my notebook computer to connect to a Class 1 56k BT modem to access the internet and I haven't had any range problems in my two story home. I get a very reliable connection from 50+ feet through walls and floors. I also have an Ipaq with built in BT, but the radio in it is a Class 2 with a range of 10m. I am still able to connect my modem with it, but the range is noticibly shorter. It is still useable from a couple of rooms away, but when I get out of the range of the Ipaq, I still have a connection, but it is a receive only connection until I get back in range of the Ipaq's radio. The NZ probably has a Class 2 radio in it, like my Ipaq (they probably do this to save battery life and money),
I purchased my BT Dongle on Ebay and am very happy with it. It is a BlueProton brand Class 1 dongle.
