View Full Version : m100 is this a quirk or normal operation?

Hi,

I'm hoping soneone else with an m100 can verify, if they hold
down the power button to turn on the backlight, does it start
clicking and cycle through the "datebook" views?

On my old (and given away) PalmPilot Pro, I could hold down the
power button for a second or two, and it would just toggle the
backlight.

I'm wondering if I got a defective m100, as this has happened
since day 1. I typically use the "pen stroke" from graffiti area
to middle of screen to toggle the backlight, so I kind of forgot
about it, until I switched the "pen stroke" to activate the
graffiti help.

Many Thanks for any verification,

John Miskinis

Check your button assignments in Preferences. If you assigned the datebook to the power button, continuing to hold it down would cause the datebook to cycle through the views in the same way the holding down the datebook button normally would.

No, this happens on my unit, when I pop batteries in, therefore
I have not "changed anything". SO, if your unit does not do this,
then mine is defective, but not a big deal. :(

Hi,

I thought maybe the default settings mapped the "power button" to
the datebook, but after spending quite a while, I can't find any place
to actually assign the "power button" to anything.

I'm still not sure this is a hardware problem. Where exactly can
the "power button" be assigned? Or, were you refering to some
"add on" application that does this?

Many thanks for any info, as it would be nice to be able to hold
the power button down and just toggle the backlight.

Hi!

I've got a m100 some years ago. As I remember, you cannot change the action of the Power Button. As you explain, it doesn't seem to be a hardware problem since it's the OS that is acting incorrectly. "Perhaps" a hard reset could solve the problem.

Hope it can help..

I have the same poblem on my m130 but it is hardware related, it seems that when you press the power button, you are also pressing the plastic cover, and then the plastic cover presses the screen in the very top spot, so in fact it is a tap.
