Hey guys! I just got my Moto phone yesterday. I'm trying to connect the phone to the UX 50 using the threads on this site, but eventhough I can pair the phone normally with the UX50, the UX sees the phone as a "PDA". Hence, when I try to set up a new connection, the pda cannot see the moto phone because the moto phone is being registered as a PDA and not a phone or modem. ANyone have this trouble too? How can I fix this? I tried local network, pc, phone and modem in the connections menu, but no luck.

Kenn.

try this
Under the Prefs App:
Connection:

Name: V600

Connect to: Local Network
Via: Bluetooth
Device: Motorola V600

Network:

Service: Cingular GPRS
User Name: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1
Connection: V600

Under Details I have:

Connection Type: PPP
Idle Timeout: Never
Query DNS: checked
IP Address: checked Automatic

and then the script:

Send: ATZ
SendCR:
Send: AT+CGDCONT=1,IP,wap.cingular
SendCR:
Send: ATD*99***1#
Send: CR:
End

Hey there!
If you read my posting, it basically says I've tried everything possible for now. The problem is the PDA recognizes the phone as another PDA, and not a phone/modem. Anyone else have this problem too?

I know this question has been posted many times but I couldn't find the correct answer for hours.
Has anybody got their UX50 to send SMS via V600? I know no one has figured out how to receive, but I read somewhere where people were able to send SMS via V600. If so, please post information how to config. Thanks.

Make sure you have the newest phone link drivers through SONY (not through PalmOne).

Then make sure your init string is: E1V1+CMEE=1;+CSCS="GSM";+CMGF=0

lokuanyu, do you happen to know where on Sony's site are the drivers located? I can't seem to locate them and have searched the forum for a link too. Thanks.

latest ones at the SONY Support site that I found are from 12-2003 CLICK HERE (http://esupport.sony.com/perl/swu-download.pl?template=EN&upd_id=1361&os_id=15&mdl=PEGUX50)

Thanks Wireless, it seems I already had the latest drivers installed but still can't seem to send or receive SMS from my v600 to ux50. Ah well, I still love the damn thing.

I sHOULD HAVE MENTIONED THAT THERE HAS always BEEN A SEND sms ISSUE WITH mOST mOTO gsm PHONES. bUT RECEIVE HAS BEEN DOABLE. sORRY caps.
i HAVE THE v600, AMONGST MANY, AND A ux 50 BUT DONT USE ALL THAT OFTEN. iLL PLAY LATER SEE WHATS UP

after 10-12 years Im still a 2 finger typist and look up when its too late. And when you use 2 fingers, retyping is too much work. So if my yelling offends, the good news is , Ill get over it.

you don't need the new drivers. just use the Generic GSM driver and under details set the init string to: E1&C1&DOX1S7=99+CMEE=1;+CSCS="GSM";V1

i have never had an issue sending sms from my UX via motorola v80, motorola v600 and v3 using this init string.

if you pda is detecting your phone as a pda just reset your phone and try again. i've encountered this so many times and reset always works

@Wireless: how are you able to recv sms to your ux from a motorola phone?

Well, the time has come to make the V3 work with palm, you can do so with the help of an application here: http://www.novamedia.de/download/e_demo_mhs_palm.html

It creates a locked profile in the network prefs. Unfortuantelly, the demo stops working after 20 connections. I tried a few times and works great.

Any way to unlock a locked prefs profile? That would be the solution to see what are the settings like.

Peace.

If you want to receive SMS from your UX try Mobile High Speed, It has V600 drivers and most other phone drivers. It auto configures many GPRS and phone settings. Beware i have had issues tring to un-install this software.
