Well, I did it. I sold my NX80V (after only 3 months) and have purchased a Tapwave Zodiac2. My Z2 should arrive in the mail on Tuesday and I am very excited. I have also purchased a leather case and Brando screen protector from Global Source.

I've been a Clie user since the release of the NR70. Each successive Clie was better than the last. I have no complaints about the NX80, in fact it's the best machine I've ever owned.

But...there will be no more Clies (at least not anytime soon), and it's time for me to evolve into the next best handheld. The Zodiac looks to be it.

Moving over to the Tapwave forum at 1SRC.com...

I just don't understand why Sony's announcement is making people give up their clies. These units are still on the store shelves.....if you already have one...it still works....what's the problem? New clie alternatives can be expected in the future but the point is - if what you have satisfies your needs now - why do you have to shop for your next pda now?

Yes I agree why give up. My Nx/80 gave in to the predictable power on problem documented in many a forum. Fortunately I have a Best But warrenty, another dissappointment. i can no longer just trade it in so it is off to the repair shop hopefuly a new screen too. the point i took the time in PDA absence to think about where to go from here if offered a voucher now worth 599.00 i can't seem to find a replacement for my need that includes a large screen a keypad good camera and movie recorder9if you want to call it that) it still can document an event in a pinch. there is not on the sires and tngstens seem to lean towards internet I need less than camera and keypad. Any suggestions on PDA that fill my needs. i can't seem to find them and eventually my NX will totally die and I want to no where to go.

I'll wait for the OS6 models to decide where to go next. That's assuming my almost two year old NX70 keeps on ticking.

I did find myself reading several reviews today about the Tapwave Zodiac2 and I must say I'm impressed. Can't wait to see one at my local CompUSA.

Perhaps the next wave of Zodiac models may be the replacement of choice when the time comes.

i'm not giving up my clie, i'm just moving to another device that allows me to fully integrate a palmOS and a cell phone into one product. easier for me to carry one device than two. i'll consider another upgrade if sony integrates a phone and a pda....

I think people are concerned about the quality of support, going forward. Sony support has never been a paragon, as I understand it. (I've never had to deal with them to date.) But I think people are afraid of having a device which will be difficult to have repaired and for which no new software will be developed (given all of the Sony-specific drivers, etc.).

I had my NX80 less than 3 months when Sony dropped the bomb on us. I have to admit to looking around to see if anything else out there might meet my needs, but I just can't find anything on the market now with the combination of features my NX80 presently offers. I really want a camera of some sort built-in; I use it often at work. I want a keyboard. I enter lots of text during the course of the day, and I find it to be the quickest and most reliable way for me. Just looking at those two features alone, I can't find any other (non-Sony) handheld that incorporates both out of the box. The HP h4350 looks intriging, but it has no camera and Win CE has been anything but stable for me in the past. The more I look around, the more satisfied I am with my NX80. If it breaks under warranty and I have a difficult time getting it fixed, I'll be forced into some difficult compromises. I'm not worried about whether it breaks out of warranty. I've only kept one handheld more than a year (18 months).

I too am considering a second PDA and unfortunately, possbly a Clie as most of my accessories are sony clie based. I am wondering if the T3 and the NX80 have compatible desktops on windows ME and or windows XP because if they do I think I will make the swicth and resist buying one of the remaining NX/80's out of fear of extinction.?

Regarding the link is this your PDA? I have thought about getting a second NX on ebay but fear getting worked. I don't know why I feel like a cliesource member is more reliable in terms honesty and care of thier PDA but I do. If this was yours I would think about putting up a bid. Francis
