Hi all,
I've been surfing the Net for the last few days looking for the best deals on the t68i and it looks like AT&T has about the best deal overall. In my area the only type of Wireless Next Generation system is GSM and that is a little sketchy. T-Mobile and AT&T have the same coverage and their plans at present seem to be very similar in cost and airtime(I don't need huge amounts of voice time).
Any one care to share their two cents on service and the t68i?It would be greatly appreciated.
I'm looking to teather my NX70 to the t68i via the Infrared Port at first and then by Blue Tooth in about a month. Anyone have any experience with AT&T Wireless Service, MLife, good or bad? I did a search and found a few postings about some problems with maintaning the Blue Tooth connection, some kind of stability issue, has that been resolved or does that persist?
Thank You in advance for your expertise and suggestions.:D

wow you are in exactly the same boat as I am! I have been wanting to get a new cell, and when I saw amazon.com offering th t68i for free! i had to do it. I am going to use IR for a bit, and eventually get the BT MS, and also want the WiFi (but thats a seperate issue)
You should have someone post a message in a few hours regarding their opinions on the t68i, I will let you know by wednesday what I think about my t68i!

I love my T68i phone. It is the best cell phone I have ever owned. The only complaint I have about it is that its screen can look pretty washed out in bright sunlight. Oh yeah, one other complaint. I hate the connectors Ericsson has been using on their cell phone line. The connectors I am referring too are for the car adapter. charger or microphone. In my opinion, they really need to redesign these things. I am also utilizing the HBH-20 Handfree Bluetooth headset with this phone and the combination of the two is great.
My service is with AT&T in Los Angeles and I really can't complain all that much. Their customer service beats Sprint hands down. There are a few places in the L.A. area that I get a very weak signal but I have found that it is that way with every provider I have tried. My complaint about AT&T is that they charge a monthly (per Mb) charge for GPRS airtime. With Sprint you get unlimited airtime on their G3 network. I believe Verizon is moving in that direction and AT&T needs to follow suit. Nickle and diming for every little thing (10 cents per SMS sent) is not going to keep AT&T's customers happy.
As for Bluetooth communications, I have had no problems. I have my T68i and NZ90 paired and have not had any problems sneding an SMS via the SMS program on the NZ90 nor have I had a problem syncing an appointment or contact via the 3rd party application called Beam Mobile. I also have a Bluetooth dongle on my PC and have not had any problem synch'ing my Palm desktop to my T68i via the XTNDConnect PC software.

Thanks Folks,
I decided to try the AT&T Service, since they have a 30 Day Return Policy and the t68i came with a $100 istant rebate, that put the t68i at $49.99 with no shipping charge. I added the one of the Online Packages along with the an SMS package that will allow me more than ample use of the extras without a per message or per Kilobyte charge, just a monthly added rider charge.
I'll report back when I've received the phone and have a little time to test it out in my area.
Anthony, where did you find "Blue Mobile" and "XTNDConnect"? Are these programs that were provided with either the t68i or your NZ, or were they downloads from Sony Erricson ?
God Bless.

I have used my T68i with my NX70 via IR for internet surfing with AT&T. It works well, but keep in mind the data transfer is via GRPS not GSM on AT&T. That means you have to go through AT&T for data, you can't dialup a regular phone/modem-based ISP and use your voice minutes for data transfer...
I like the T68i itself as well. Compact and colorful. Note, you can beam your clie addressbook entries to your T68i addressbook which saves some time.

It's a pretty good phone. Good form factor, reception, and excellent connectivity features. The Bluetooth is great. If you have a Mac with Bluetooth (I have a 12" Powerbook) you can use the phone as a mouse or to control programs. How cool is it to control your computer with a phone? Next time I have to make a presentation I'll use it to control Powerpoint or Keynote.
However, the GSM service through T-Mobile has been kind of spotty in my area.

XTNDConnect was available as a free download from Sony Ericcsons website back when I had bought my phone. I am not sure if they still offer it but I have listed the URL below.
Did I type "Blue Mobile"? I meant "Beam Mobile". Even though the title of the application says "Beam", this application does have the capability of sending via bluetooth. You can find it at either Palmgear (http://www.palmgear.com) or Handango (http://www.handango.com) .

GenoG,
T-Mobile has data plans that range from $9.99/month for 2mb of data to $19.99 for 10mb and up. As far as I know you would need this to surf with your Clie. I currently have the 2mb plan. I am not sure if T-Mobile allows dialup access, but it sounds like at least AT&T does not allow this.
As far as the T68i goes, it is a great phone the best I have had. I would agree with the connectors for the charger, car adapter, etc. They need to redisign these connectors. Not a huge deal but annoying.

Again, Thanks to all!!
Kleejam,
Thanks for the heads-up, I may need to up the Data Package, but I will wait and see, I signed up for the Mega Package and I'll keep an eye on it to see if it gives enough transfer for my needs.
Anthony,
Did you mean BeamPro? I did a search at both Handango and PalmGear for Beam Mobile and all I could find was BeamPro at Handango. In the discription of the application it gives information that leads me to beleive that BeamPro is what you are talking about, but could you please confirm this?
Again, Thanks to all that Posted info for me, I now have important information that I would have had to learn the hard way with out your help.
God Bless and remember our Brothers and Sisters that are in harms way to safe gaurd our freedom.

To all
Does anyone know if you can control the t68i with the clie?
like a t68 emulator where I can check last calls and missed calls etc.. this would be nice feature.
Also, if you use and instant messange app like ICQ for palm, can you have icq wake up and check for messages by itself and shut down if there are no messages? this way you can leave it on all day and when someone wants you it can beep or play an alarm.
And last but not least.. I ordered my t68i and was wondering if you used the BT earpeace can you dial from clie and use the headset to talk without navigating the t68 to accept bt?
Someone on another thread said they didn't know how to make it work.

Nope. It is Beam Mobile yet it is listed on Palmgear as BeamMobile. Click here (http://www.palmgear.com/software/answernew.cfm?sid=25A79C92-3790-4650-86A92621AD709C47&quicksearch2=BeamMobile&CFID=8753726&CFTOKEN=70299370) to get it.

Those new powerbooks look so great!
What do you guys find most usefull on your t68i?
oh one more quick ? I am new to this phone, I should be receiving it today! But with SMS and MMS, am I able to send these only to t-mobile phone users, or can i send it to any 10 digit cell phone?

SMS can be sent to any mobile phone that has SMS capabilities. You can also send SMS to any email address.
Not as sure on MMS since I'm new to it. Seems to me that you should be able to send MMS to any mobile phone that can take MMS messages as well as any email address. Looks like AT&T charges .40 cents for each MMS message sent (up to 50k) and .10 for each SMS sent.

AT&T's MLife allows you to add SMS and Data packages to your Voice Package so that you can taylor you service to your needs.
SMS packages vary in size and allow a predetermined number of sent SMS and unlimited recieving of SMS and the Data packages allow a certain amout of transfer per month in Kilobytes or Megabytes, depending on the package that you select.
Any overages are contigent on the package that you are paying for, so some research is suggested at the AT&T Website, I've found their Customer Service People to be pretty helpful as well.

the only issue i had with att is the sim card lock, t-moble only locks it for 3 months, i had to travel to europe for work and was going to take a weeks vacation. the day's i was working i could bill everything to work, including the roaming charge on my phone, but for the next week i wanted to use a prepaid sim card, att will not let you they lock out there phones to work only with an att card. lucky for me i live in new york and finding some one to unlock my phone was no problem and i didn't have to send it in to one of those places on the internet

I agree with buckethead, anyone who is looking at the t68i should really check out the Seimens S55. It has more features than the t68 and it looks much cooler.
