I used Backup Buddy with my old Visor. Used it for my initial change to the clie, then had some problems with my computer and ended up losing lots of stuff. Question is, do I really need a program like that with a Clie? I have backups on MS. Thanks!

I want something to back EVERYTHING to my PC. BuB does this. Of course, I haven't had much luck with the BuBVFS (the card backup) version of the program.

BackupBuddyVFS is an outstanding product and has saved me from several hard resets. Redundancy is important in any backup scenario. The more bakcups of backups you have, the better you will be when you need it.

A backup of your RAM on MS is really critical. Some go as far as to create backups of RAM on more than one MS. Your need to decide how protected you want to be.

You mention that you have a backup on MS. Did you use BackupBuddy for that backup?

Other benefits to BB are the time synch option, verbose logging of each hotsynch session, creation of backup sets and scheduling of unattended, automatic backup sessions.

Also BBVFS has encryption that MSBackup doesn't have. If anyone wants to restore the RAM with BBVFS, he or she needs the password too. My MSBackup does not have that option which make me feel insecure about having the MS stays with the Clie all the time. Loosing the Clie is bad enough. Loosing the information in it is even worst.  Been there, done that .  Something I don't want to repeat.  Cancelling all of my credit cards, changing all of the accounts and or passwords, etc. are just no fun.

And yet everytime I attempt a full backup it crashes.

Go figure.

When I say BuB will backup everything, I mean it. Including everything on the memory stick as well.

Even though, for some reason, I'm unable to use the VFS, I'd still recommend the PC version.

I do have problem backing up QuickSheet data with BBVFS, so I exclude them from the backup list. I heard BBVFS also does not like shortcuts and apps that appear to be in RAM but they actually reside in MS, like those apps in PiDirectII folder.
