MovieMentor (http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=E4DA0945-C2FA-4733-8BB059E0C1138C64&prodID=47323) is an excellent, albiet young, program. It has SOME flaws, but is VERY beautiful, well written program. I plan to purchase it as soon as it's VFS aware...
You may also want to consider THIS (http://www.magma.ca/~sheppard/IMDb/Palm.html). It is a searchable IMDB database, and uses PalmReader. Not as pretty as MovieMentor, but hey, it's FREE!!! ;)
Hope this helps. ;)

movie mentor is nice but it only includes 2000 movies. you can download the IMDB databases for tomeraider from memoware.com. it is free and covers many more movies.

And regarding movie listings, I have iSilo scooping this site: http://www.hollywood.com/avantgo/index.asp?bypass=1 (http://www.hollywood.com/avantgo/index.asp?bypass=1) Just go there, fill in your info and then clip that address for scooping by your offline reader of choice.
Sorry I

vindigo is a modest $24/year, and covers 60 major cities. movie times is only one of many functions. it does restaurants, bars, museums, services(atm machines, copy centers, etc etc), shopping, and has maps to guide you to your prefered destination. http://www.vindigo.com
and there is avantgo, which is free. it downloads many services, movies among them , but i don't know about movie times.
don't know if either are hi-res OS5, though

doesn't have any OS5 devices listed on the site as being supported but may still work.

Found a great FREE program that does just what I need and it is a very small, simple app. Runs on OS5 PDAs.
"Showtime 0.5"
http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=F204A19A-537B-46E5-A59E4B4A5F59551F&prodID=2618
The Config file is a bit confusing at first, but if you read it you'll have no problems.

For hires, I recommend something like Handstory or Isilo clips to download the movie listings in your area. You can also get Movie descriptions, reviews, news and boxoffice stats, if you want.
For just basic theater info, there is a great freeware app called Showtimes, but the developer has ceased supporting it and it requires some technical knowledge to set up, particularly if you want to utilize the "plot description" feature. Showtimes isn't hires, but it looks great on my Clie anyway. Showtimes includes Movie, Theater, Theater address and phone number, showtimes and plot description.
All of the apps I mentioned are available on Palmgear.

Yeah, if you see the post above yours I just found this app. I really don't care if its Hi-Res at long as it runs...some games and such on the NX that aren't Hi-Res don't run :( . This seems like a great app and does the job that I needed. Thanks for your help.

I've been using Handstory with MovieMinder (http://www.movieminder.com/palm/).
oops, never mind... that's just a local resource. :)
hollywood.com (http://www.hollywood.com/avantgo/movies.asp) is another.

I use hollywood.com through avantgo and don't like the fact that the movies are listed by title and you can't look for theaters near your location. I think I used to use moviefone.com through avantgo and it would list movie theaters by Zip which seemed a bit easier to me.
You can also get review for movies through metacritic.com all you have to do is add it to your avantgo channels.
It lists new movies, old ones and even new videos that have been released.
if the movie theater is a cinemark you can use www.cinemark.com

Thanks for mentioning this. It's pretty much what I've been looking for, but haven't been able to do with iSilo.
I'm having no luck with the plot feature. Does this even work anymore or is there a trick? My script is obviously looking for the plots, but keeps saying "no plot found".

im with you sunshine... I've read the whole configuration file, and I'm familiar with scripts and I'm not seeing what I'm missing. Seems pretty black & white to me; not sure why I'm receiving "no plot"

I think the moreinfo is dead...i'd try the imdb link...
#
# EXTRAMOVIEINFO
#
# EXTRAMOVIEINFO means yes, I want extra movie info (like plots)
# QUERYIMDB means yes, query IMDB for plot info if my website doesn't provide them
#
EXTRAMOVIEINFO 1
QUERYIMDB 1 <----THIS ONE ON
I personally dont need plots so I havent tried that yet.

I was just talking to the developer on irc, these were the highlights:
<jrray> I think there is a patch to fix plots at http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/showtimes/
...then he ran it & received the no plot found message and said...
<jrray> the title inside []'s comes from imdb so it seems to find the page, just doesn't find the plot in the page
...then i asked about the future
<jrray> I don't like to admit it is dead but I can't find a pulse
...then a few minutes later he said
<jrray> well I fixed the .pl but I can't make a new .exe right now
<jrray> you have to download and install activeperl
<jrray> then you can run the .pl just like an .exe
<jrray> www.activestate.com
<nforg> is the new .pl in showtimes-0.5-windows on http://showtimes.jrray.org/ ?
<jrray> I emailed it to you
<nforg> oh...
<nforg> got it, thx
-and thats all... so it appears
I'm going to post another post right after this one with the identical e-mail he sent me... I guess edit copy the post and then paste it in notepad and save it as getdata.pl
I'ma try this later tonight and let u know how it works out.

Whoo Hooo, it works!!
Kind of a pain to get it working, but it's just another small thing to learn.
Anyways, I'll post instructions (and ill make the files available for download on my page) tomorrow. Real quick (for the compter savy), I downloaded perl from activestate.com
installed it, then put all of showtimes files and directories c:\show... Added the perl directory to my search path in dos (said it did it during install, but it didn't). Then ran perl getdata.pl (the new one that is downloadable at the link above), and it didn't work (said it did), so i deleted all the cache files and files on my palm, reinstalled it, ran perl getdata.pl again and it worked perfectly. The first time I ran it, it didn't run the query like it normally does (i think because it had been run before so it skipped the process, however, when it was ran originally it didn't pull all the data correctly, ie plot).
It may seem confusing, but it's really not. It's just 215am and time for me to go to bed, ill post better instructions tomorrow.

Wow! Thanks for pulling in the reins on this one Nate. You're a superstar.
Please keep me posted on the instructions. I set up the exe to run on Friday mornings via Windows Scheduler so I can have the new movie times. I wonder how this configuration will work out.
Thanks again!!

ok, i can't gurantee the "automatic way" is going to work, but it's worth a shot...

The getdata.pl and yahoo.pm files at the following link work well to retrieve the plots, if you have active perl installed on your PC. I created batch files "perl getdata.pl -f" and perl "getdata.pl -f -r". The first batch file is for just updating changes. The second batch file replaces the entire cache and take longer to run.
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=618963&group_id=2989&atid=302989
Just download the new getdata and yahoo files and copy them over the original ones in your Showtimes directory. Create a batch file and run it, or just run perl getdata.pl -f or -f -r.
Active perl has to be installed on your PC. Active perl is freeware at the link mentioned above. Active perl take about 100mb of disk space.

Wow. You guys rock!
Since I already have ActivePerl installed, I used Sebring's tip and got the two new files from Sourceforge. I'm not getting all the plots, but I'm getting most -- better than none!
Working with Scheduler, I just got my download for the week. I noticed that it popped up an error (something like):
"Unable to Add Movie, error at yahoo.pm line 42"
Before I post to SF, is anyone else getting this? I just did a spot check of new flix on MetaCritic and everything seems to be working fine.
Nate: If you picked up the ball and made a hi-res version of this, I will be your #1 Beta tester
Thanks again

I don't know if anyone else is having this problem, or if it's just my lucky morning, but Showtime has decided not to play along.
It's telling me that I need to be connected to the internet (which I obviously am) and that the $URL must be valid (which, I checked for sanity's sake, and it obviously is). It then says that if I'm behind a firewall or using a proxy to make sure they're configured (which they are).
I am also getting this msg:
LWP returned:
500 EOF instead of response line
I'm not a perl expert by any stretch, but I *really* hope this is a temporary problem. If anyone has ideas, please help. I need the movie line-ups for Post-Oscar viewing!!
TIA

Yeah I also had this problem earlier this week as I update daily. It worked yesterday and stoped just now when I ran it after seeing your message. It's more likely a formating issue with yahoo Are you also using yahoo?

I am using Yahoo and I thought that might be the source of the problems.

Just a note as you can see I posted a few mintues ago that it wasn't working. I have my set as a schedule task in windows to run the script in the morning and while I was working it popped up and work fine a few minutes later.
Just an FYI

Alright, I figured it out....its Yahoo not the program.
I had it set to:
URL http://movies.yahoo.com/showtimes/showtimes.html?z=07726&r=sim&m=&t=&a=&dt=0&s=tm&p=5
The last # is how deep to search. Well I typed in the URL manually and its a 404 error. I tried 4...same thing, then 3...same thing...2 worked. Its not as deep, but its fine for me. Now I leave a line for 5 and one for 2...if 5 fails it will sync 2. I think Yahoo is providing less theaters or something.
Let me know if it helps you guys out.
Erik
example:
URL http://movies.yahoo.com/showtimes/showtimes.html?z=07726&r=sim&m=&t=&a=&dt=0&s=tm&p=5
URL http://movies.yahoo.com/showtimes/showtimes.html?z=07726&r=sim&m=&t=&a=&dt=0&s=tm&p=2
