So, Im sitting in the dark reading on my NX70. My mind is wandering and for some odd reason I start thinking about night vision goggles.

I know that most B&W cameras are able to pick up IR light and can thus be used as nigt vision cameras if you have an IR illuminator.

Guess what? The camera on your NX works too. All you need is an IR emitter for night vision (which you can get therough hunting/militarty/camping stores) and you then have a little poscket night scope.

If you dont have an emitter, just try it in the dark. use a strong IR remote controll to light something up and you can see it even in the pitch black of your basement closet. I tried reading a book in the dark just to see how clear it came out.

I think this is really neat.
Has anyone else tried it? you could stick emitters on all the walls of your house so when the power goes out you could walk around in the dark without candles, or flashlights, etc.

If your woman is trying to sleep next to you, and you cant find your shoes to go walk the dog.. flip on your NX and .... "there they are!"

heh... anyway, I plan to use this around my house... even if just for occasional "fun" in the dark.

Or you put little nightlights in the outlets... Or turn the lights on.... :) :) :)
Seriously, that's pretty neat and I shall give it a try tonight just for kicks!!!

I use my NX mainly as a flashlight. I heard it can be used as an organizer too! anybody tried this?

oo anyone remember the sony x-ray vision scandal with their video cameras using night vision? Does this work for the x-ray vision too?

Actually it's kinda neat, now I can tell if the batteries in my remote control are really dead or not.
As far as using it as a night vision scope... Well, I just turn on the light. I want to take it out and knight and see if people glow, that would be cool. Oh wait, I tried that already, it doesn't work well.

You might try an IR Photon. (http://www.photonlight.com/) It's keychain sized.

My night vision camera isn't an xray machine, just lets me see in the dark.

but it was surprisingly bright. oh yea and this strange idea of using it as a planner whats this mystical planner feature? i thought the clie was just a camera and a flash light

You could check if the batteries are dead on those IR toilets too. You can see them pulse in camera mode.

You can also use the "IR Monitor" application ( it is free but I can't remember where I got it) if you need to compare the strength of IR signals.

I would suggest you first sharpen the edge on the clamshell farthest away from the hinge to an angle of about 12.5 degrees. I used an angle grinder, but a file might do the trick too.

Then, carefully drag the unit along a piece of wood. Dont force it - make multiple pases if need be. It should remove any rough spots and get a nice smooth finish.

You might need to finish with a sanding block (a GREAT use for the NZ90 BTW :D) and fine grit sandpaper. My old stanley planer just sits on the tool bench now.
