View Full Version : NETFRONT 3.1 on NX70V???
i just got a wireless MS card (Hagiwara). i have not used netfront so far but as far as i read this is the ultimate browser for the internet. i think i read also, that it should be possible to install the latest netfront 3.1. i found it already but i could not install this one. not via hotsync and not via CFcard.
was there any trick about it???

yes there was a trick.
basically, you
-make a backup with MSbackup or whatever it is you use
-obtain a copy of netfront 3.1 PRC somehow
-replace the netfront.prc in your backup with the newer one in the folder that you just backed up onto, making sure they have the same name
-restore the backup
Actually there weren't any tricks to installing NF3.1 on the NX70V, I have it installed just fine on my NX70. I had a 6-in-1 card reader/writer & copied the file over to MS, then used McFile & copied the file to RAM, but just to free RAM, I now have NF3.1 via PowerRUN off the MS. Seems to be just fine. Just remember you should have at least 5M of free RAM, otherwise NF3.1 won't install into RAM.
Hope this helps.
Oh, the backup trick was a good one, the thought of that never crossed my mind, since everything just installed smoothly. ;)
But surely I'll know what to do when I need alternative methods now! thanks! :)

o right. i forgot you nx70 folk didn't have netfront to start with. = P
ok, i think i had just 3MB left - i thought it is enough since the netrfront file is like 1.7MB.
BTW: powerrun is an APP that makes it possible to run APPS located on the MS which usually should be in RAM? - this is new to me - i never finish learning...

True, but even though the NetFront3.1 file is small, it requires 5MB+ free RAM to install Netfront. Wierd but it is also stated in the manual.

Yeah, PowerRun (http://simple-palm.com) allows certain applications (along with the related database) to be stored within the MS, & once excuted, the application is pulled into RAM for usage, kind of like the /PALM/Launcher/ folder.
You might want to try out JackFlash, on the NX70, you can gain approx. 6MB extra storage in RAM.

eddy... since i also have a NX70V with the latest netfront installed - i was kinda wondering if you encounter soft resets after you exit netfront...
i use ZL's "powerrun" features, and i always run into a soft reset, no matter what...
finally the backup trick worked to get the netfront file onto my RAM. even after having more than 6 MB free space i still could not just only copy with FileZ or MSFile.

I use AppShelf on my NX70 rather than ZLauncher, so haven't encountered much soft-resets. & just my personal opinion, NF3.1 seems to be more stable via PowerRun. ;)
But with my UX50, I have tried both ZLauncher & AppShelf, also with NF3.1 directly residing in RAM, but still NF3.1 gives me the soft-reset every once in a while.

i had no installed netfront version on my nx. the new one is called netfront3.prc.
btw: i did not imagine this was a warez link cause i got this link a while ago in cliesource forum. just because there are some sonydrivers and sonyapps which are not sold by sony - just bundled with different clies - it is a warez link????

Netfront is a copyrighted piece of software, and it is illegal to distrbute it. That's why the link was removed.
