You'll love this one, I sure did!

I was exhibiting a very costly and cool piece of law enforcement gear at a conference today (my job), however for some reason there was poor turnout.

One of the other exhibitors saw me take out my TH55 and start taking pictures of our booth with it. It turns out that he's an active member of law enforcement, and a gadget freak.
Me being me, I showed it to him, and explained some of the cool features.

Later that very boring and slow day, the guy returns with his commander and four buddies asking for a demonstration of what?

-You guessed it, the TH55!

I had to preface the demo with an official statement that I wasn't a representative of Sony, nor does my company offer these as part of what we were there to sell. I was demonstrating the TH55 solely as a private enthusiast.

Well, it got 'em buzzing.
I don't know what I'm gonna tell my boss, but I'm sure gonna enjoy it!
LOL X10 :D

EDIT:
What got them going about it:

1) photography

2) movies

3) voice recorder

4) SpyCam application (Not demoed, but explained with gusto)
CliePet, you influence people everywhere with your work! :D

5) WIFI

6) PIMS for note taking, etc...

I'd gladly rep for Sony, but uh, they're kinda taking away the thing I'd be wanting to sway them with my enthusiasm over.

Mike, with the sad news and fewer posts (my impressions), your story did lift the spirit.

My experience was similar to Striders's.

I was at an educational conference, "Handhelds in the Classroom." During a break I went up to the presenter to see if he'd beam me an app. He seemed intrigued with my TH55 since he'd never seen one. I showed him a few features (the CO, Decuma, camera, video player) & he asked me to please demonstrate my unit for the attendees when the conference resumed.

That I did. It was only after the conference that I realized what type of impact I had had when I exchanged notes with a fellow conference member. When I got home I read what she wrote & discovered that my presentation had shown her that the Palm (a Treo) was "fairly primitive" (to use her words) in comparison in terms of basic apps & input.

Score one of the TH55! :)

Looks like Sony's marketing has not been reaching potential consumers - so great products but poor customer awareness. This does surprise me. Perhaps Sony should have just sacked the Marketing people rather than pull the plug in th US & Europe.

That's another great story! Sony should be reading this and should discuss these during their reevaluation of the Clie line.
