View Full Version : NetFront -> Fatal Exceptions

Has anyone been having any problems with certain websites in NetFront causing fatal exceptions?

Yesterday it was freewarepalm.com - I was getting some datamgr.c crash which forced me to soft reset.
After getting sick of trying it different ways (Toggling CSS, Images, JavaScript, clearing the cache etc.) I gave up and manually deleted EVERY NetFront data file, including it's preferences entry.

This worked, but today, pilot-db.sourceforge.net is now causing Fatal Exceptions too!!!

Does anyone have any suggestions on causes and/or solutions?!?
This is driving me nuts!

BUMP!

I have been getting this lately as well...

I have tried everything short of a hard reset and deletion of the PC-based backups and reinstalling everything anew...

I have done from within NetFront:
1. Delete Cookie
2. Delete Cache
3. Delete Auth Info
4. Disable Caching all together in NetFront Settings.

I am still getting these errors.

Any thoughts?

Have you tried changing the user agent?

I have not done that yet. I was using a custom agent that I picked up from here trying to make the authentication for sites like this easier for NetFront to remember so I would not have to relogin every time. I will give it a try again and see what I come up with.

Do you use TextPlus? I had this problem whenever I tried to enter text into a text field. A solution somewhere on Cliesource pointed to disabling TextPlus in Netfront, and that took care of it for me.

I noticed this problem today too.
I don't have problems surfing wireless at home, but today I was using another exhibitor's connection at an Expo where my company also had an exhibit, and my TH crashed several times.

I also found I couldn't enter text here at 1SRC when connected and not crashing.

I changed my agent settings recently too.

I'm about to go wireless on my TH here at home to see if it's still acting strangely.

There's a thread here somewhere going into detail about this. Bottom-line: every now and then, I use a file mgr to go into the RAM listing, and then delete all pdb files beginning with NF3 -- except the Bookmark and cookies files. (Using the cache-kill command didn't work for me, in terms of curing this problem.) After doing so, the next time NetFront is started, it recreates whatever files it needs. You'll see NetFront's splash screen as it recreates those files. FWIW, I've gotten into the habit of doing this weekly. Keeps the goblins away.

FYI >>> Here's that list of files. Boldface = I leave it alone.
* NF3AUTHINFO
*NF3BOOKMARKDB
* NF3CACHE
* NF3COOKIEDB
* NF3FILEDIALOGDB
* NF3INFODB
* NF3MSDB
* NF3PLUGINDB
* NF3URLHISTORYDB

Whatever you do, PLEASE, backup first, preferably with something like BackUpMan, which backs up to the MS. No telling what may happen with different software combo's on various machines.

I had a similar problem and after starting from scratch (i.e. Hard Reset and new ID); I execute his procedure about once every two weeks. If you have hot synced after the reset starts occurring, I was not able to figure out how to recover from my fubar state. Anyway, good luck.

I have also added the above words to Tips & Tricks Thread #107.

P.S. Where is Treo by the way. Was he lost in the transition from ClieSource to 1src?
