Yes, it certainly does get very confusing at times, when in doubt always try the OS5 version first.

it is confusing. does anyone know exactly what the differences are between 0S5 and Hi-Res?

I suppose it would depend on the app. But its seems that generally Hi-res seems to be for OS4 Hi-res Clies while the OS5 version works with the Tungsten T and NX. But this isn't always true. I know YiShow is this way, but BeJewelled has an OS5 version that only works on the Tungsten, and a Hi-Res version that works on the NX.

HiRes = high resolution 320x320 pixel sized screen, HiRes+ commonly refers to a 320x480 size. HiRes and HiRes + is prevelant on both the NR and NX series Clies. The difference is how it's implemented in the two different OS's. In OS4.1 for the NR, Sony had created it's own proprietary display interface. In OS5(that's on the NX Clie), Sony went with the Palm interface.

in responce to the person who said that the 0S5 version of bejewled only works on the tungsten model: try down loading it from hangdango, i got the OS5 version to work fine on my NX.

i did try downloading it from another source and the OS5 version didn't work that time, so i'm not sure what the deal is. the file size is slightly larger when you download in from handago so maybe it's an update... just guessing really.

it did not work for me but I found the right version. I think I used the 0s5 version and not the sony one but I am not sure. I got it from palmgear.
